*IMPORTANT CHANGES ON RESIDENCY:
Resident of Will County or live within 10 miles of the Will County Border within two (2) years of appointment and remain a resident while employed with the WCSP.
Any individual that does not reside within the county will park the squad at the Public Safety Complex or approved substation.
*IMPORTANT CHANGES TO APPLICATION FEE:
Pay application fee online with a charge card. The fee is $75.00 and a $1.99 processing fee (Non-Refundable)
PAY HERE:
Starting Salary: $71,975.00 and after 11 steps $114,440.00 with
IMRF/SLEP Pension, benefits and uniforms.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- U.S. Citizen
- Must be 21 years of age (No age cap)
- Valid driver’s license
- FOID card
- Not have any felony or certain misdemeanor convictions from any jurisdiction
- Be a Resident of Will County or live within 10 miles of the Will County border within two (2) years of appointment and remain a resident while employed with the WCSP. Any individual that does not reside within the county will park the squad at the Public Safety Complex or approved substation.
- Must have passed the probationary period of current or past police/deputy position. Must attach Law Enforcement Certificate.
TESTING PROCESS: You will be emailed each step in the process!

*Personality evaluation screening by a psychologist
*Polygraph test
*Fingerprint Appointment
You will be fingerprinted and required to bring
personal documents for us to copy. DL, SS Card, Birth Cert., Naturalization Cert. (If needed), FOID Card, and any other documents requested.
*In-depth background investigation
A mailout is completed from the long application and inquiries emailed to your personal and employment references. Along with police checks.
An investigator will conduct a background investigation.
*Review by the Sheriff’s Panel
Your completed file will be reviewed by the Sheriff’s Panel when completed. You may be selected for an interview. If selected for hire, you must pass a medical and drug screening test. Passing all the steps in the process is not a guarantee of a job offer.
POST EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION:
Once hired as a Will County Sheriff’s Deputy Lateral, the applicant will receive the following training:
- Sixteen weeks of Patrol Field training
- Forty to forty-eight hours of annual In-Service training
- After the initial phase, the Deputy will choose his/her assignment by rank seniority.
- Road Deputies work a 12-hour shift, either 6 am to 6 pm or 6 pm to 6 am.

*8 Hours sick time for each month worked.
VACATION
*After 1 year of service=80 hours vacation
*After 5 years of service= 120 hours of vacation
*After 10 years of service= 160 hours of vacation
*After 15 years of service= 200 hours of vacation
PERSONAL TIME:
*0-4 years of service=16 hours
*5 through 9 years of service= 24 hours
*10+ years of service= 32 hours
