9/6       Location:  W. Taylor and Belmont                             DuPage

            Summary:  Juan Castro Martinez, age 20, of 2409 Spring St. in Woodridge was cited for driving while license revoked and failure to signal.

 

9/9       Location:  S. Lily Cache Rd. and W. Link Lane                                Plainfield

            Summary:  Laura S. Tinney, age 45, of 16526 S. Howard St. in Plainfield was arrested for DUI, failure to give aid/information, failure to report accident and leaving the scene of an accident. 

 

FRANKFORT AND NEW LENOX

 

9/3       Location:  S. LaGrange and W. St. Francis                Frankfort

            Summary:  Jeffrey S. Bobic, age 40, of 2908 Lexington Drive in Hazel Crest was arrested for stopping on roadway, illegal transportation of alcohol, improper turn at intersection, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug equipment.

 

9/4       Location:  Old Hickory Road and N. Vine St.                       New Lenox

            Summary:  Damion Nabors, age 28, of 1501 Pioneer Road in Crest Hill was cited for driving while license suspended and speeding.  He was held on an active IL State Police warrant.

 

9/5       Location:  W. Lincoln Highway – Frankfort                         

            Summary:  At 4:50pm, an unknown male called the homeowner and identified himself as Lt. Charles Whitman from the Will County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Unit.  The male stated that the homeowner had a warrant for her arrest but she could send bond money to avoid being arrested.  The fraudulent lieutenant advised the homeowner to go to the store and purchase $700 of pre-paid gift cards.  The male then periodically called the homeowner to check the status of her purchase.   The homeowner then came to the Will County Sheriff’s Office to speak to a deputy about the phone call and the warrant possibly being a scam.  She advised that the phone number being used by the false impersonator was 815-727-8575, which is the actual non-emergency number for Laraway Road Communications Center/Dispatch.   Sheriff’s deputies advised her that is was, in fact, a fraudulent caller and a scam. 

 

            Location:  W. Woodlawn Road          New Lenox

            Summary:  At 5:11 pm, an unknown male called the homeowner and identified himself as Lt. Charles Whitman from the Will County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Unit.  The male stated that the homeowner had a failure to appear warrant out of Will County, and in order to avoid being arrested, she could purchase $700 in pre-paid gift cards and give him the numbers from the cards to him over the phone.  The homeowner went to Jewel in New Lenox and while proceeding to purchase the cards was told by the customer service clerk to visit the Sheriff’s Office and speak to a deputy because it may be a scam.   The homeowner arrived at the Sheriff’s Office and was advised that it was a fraudulent caller and a scam.   The homeowner stated that the caller ID showed the actual non-emergency number for Laraway Road Communications Center/Dispatch,.

9/8       Location:  7500 block of W. Benton Drive                Frankfort

            Summary:  Andrew J. Mason, age 33, of 13112 Regan Road in Mokena was arrested for domestic battery, interfering with reporting of domestic battery, and home invasion.

9/3       Location:  S. Chicago and W. Schweitzer Road

            Summary:  Joseph M. Hester, age 36, of 6514 S. King Drive in Chicago was cited for defective windshield, driving while license suspended and was held on an active warrant out of Chicago.

 

9/4       Location:  2000 block of S. Briggs

            Summary:  Therese Marino, age 46, of 1704 New Lenox Road in Joliet was cited for possession of drug equipment.

 

9/5       Location:  S. Briggs and E. Washington

            Summary:  Dominique J. Woodard, age 28, of 308 N. Briggs in Joliet was cited for obstructing identification and was held on an active Will County warrant.

 

9/6       Location:  Taylor and Walsh

            Summary:  Eneida Lopez Berrum, age 44, of 519 Walsh Avenue in Joliet was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, no valid driver’s license and no registration lights.

 

            Location:  E. Cass and Collins

            Summary:  Sariyah Stampley, age 21, of 337 Wallace Way in Romeoville was cited for failure to signal, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving while license suspended.

            Summary:  Courtney W. James, age 34, of 5252 Arquilla Avenue in Richton Park was cited for improper lane usage, failure to signal, driving while license revoked, obstructing justice and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

            Summary:  Isidro Magallon-Martinez, age 44, of 1112 Woodruff in Joliet was arrested for DUI, speeding, improper lane usage and illegal transportation of alcohol.

 

            Location:  S. Midland and W. Marion

            Summary:  Michael A. Nevils, age 36, of 358 W. Bethel Drive in Bourbonnais was cited for driving while license suspended.

 

            Location:  E. Washington and Cherry Hill Road

            Summary:  Noah Nicholas, age 45, of 241 Cherry Hill Road in Joliet was cited for driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, no registration plate, expired registration and improper display of registration.

            Summary:  Johnnie R. Jones, Jr., age 25, of 1412 Brandon Road in Joliet was arrested for failure to signal, possession of cannabis under 10 grams, possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver.

 

9/8       Location:  1300 block of Cecelia Avenue

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a purse containing credit cards.

 

9/9       Location:  Sterling and N. Briggs

            Summary:  Olegario Garcia, age 56, of 518 Blackhawk in Joliet was cited for expired registration sticker, improper display of registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, display/possess suspended driver’s license and driving while license suspended.

 

            Location:  1500 block of W. Jefferson

            Summary:  Eric J. Tims, age 28, of 14 Kingery Quarters in Willowbrook was cited for driving while license suspended, improper lighting and illegal transportation of alcohol.

 

HOMER GLEN

 

9/4       Location:  S. Bridle Court

            Summary: A 62-year-old male victim stated to deputies that he received a call at 2pm from a man who introduced himself as Alex Cooper, an officer from the Social Security Office. Cooper asked the victim to give him the last four numbers of his social security number so that he could verify if he was the person Cooper was looking for.  The victim gave the numbers.  Cooper then advised the victim that there was a vehicle rented out in Texas, with his information that was found covered in blood.  The victim stated that he never rented a vehicle.  The victim then provided Cooper with his full social security number and was told by Cooper that he could have his social security number reinstated if he paid the fines owed on the rental.  The victim went to CVS, purchased $400 in EBay gift cards, to Walmart and purchased $500 in Walmart gift cards, and provided the fraudulent SS Officer, Alex Cooper, with the numbers.  By time of police report at 7:15pm, the cards had a zero balance.

            Summary:  Juana Martinez-Trejo, age 36, of 2325 Hanley Road in Gary, IN was cited for no registration lights, no valid driver’s license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

 

9/6       Location:  S. Gougar and W. 151^st St.

            Summary:  Karima Thomas, age 29, of 311 N. Ottawa St. in Joliet was cited for driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding.

 

9/9       Location:  12000 block of W. 143^rd St.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke into a garage and stole a Snap-On Modus Diagnostic System.

 

EAST TOWNSHIPS

 

9/4       Location:  26000 block of S. Greenwood Avenue                 Crete

            Summary:  An unknown male white subject in a white van was observed entering a residence.  The unknown subject took off after an alarm was activated.

 

            Location:  679 Madison Lane                         University Park

            Summary:  Ontarion Safo, age 25, of this address, was arrested for obstructing justice, resisting a peace officer and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.  He was taken into custody by the Sheriff’s Fugitive Warrants Unit and the IDOC Fugitive Team on three active warrants out of Will County, Homewood Police, and IDOC.

 

9/6       Location:  S. Governors Highway and W. Monee-Manhattan Road             Monee

            Summary:  Mary F. Kirkland, age 21, of 6824 Laurel Avenue in Portage, IN was cited for driving while license suspended.

 

            Location:  E. Exchange and S. State Line Road                                Crete

            Summary:  Anthony R. Mendoza, age 20, of 1632 W. 100^th Place in Chicago was cited for speeding and unlawful consumption of alcohol/zero tolerance.

 

9/7       Location:  E. Exchange and S. Klemme Road                       Crete

            Summary:  Randy N. Barron, age 57, of 15748 W. 103^rd Lane in Dyer, IN was arrested for DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol and unattended motor vehicle while engine running.

 

9/9       Location:  25000 block of s. Sangamon St.                            Crete

            Summary:  Person/s unknown threw a cement object at a motorhome causing damage to the windshield and front hood.

 

LOCKPORT

 

9/3       Location:  400 block of North Avenue

            Summary:  A 45-year-old male was struck by gunfire around 8:40pm.  The victim was shot in the chest and was conscious upon deputy’s arrival at the home.  The victim had been sitting on the couch in the living room when the home was shot with several bullets.  The victim was transported to Silver Cross Hospital by Lockport Fire personnel.  He was listed in stable condition.   A witness stated seeing a silver four-door sedan, possibly a Dodge Stratus, with tinted windows, in the area when gunshots were heard. 

 

SOUTH TOWNSHIPS

 

9/4       Location:  S. Rowell and W. Manhattan                    Jackson

            Summary:  Homeowner stated that he left his 2012 white Ford pickup in the field where he cuts and bails hay.  Person/s unknown stole the truck from the field.  About 10 hours later the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office contacted the truck owner and advised that they found the truck in a river in Kankakee County.

 

9/9       Location:  35000 block of S. Rivals Road                 Wilmington

            Summary:  Charles L. Neese III, age 23, of 2406 Ashland Circle in Morris was arrested for DUI/drugs, improper display of registration plate, defective windshield, driving while license suspended and endangering the life of a child.

            Summary:  Tadia Ellis, age 33, of 401 Pico in Joliet was cited for driving while license suspended.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke into an unoccupied house and stole a hot water tank and copper piping.

8/27     Location:  10000 block of W. Steger Road                            Frankfort

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke into a construction trailer and stole five framing guns, two coil guns, five circular saws, a generator and a compressor.

 

8/28     Location:  7600 block of W. Hickory Creek Drive                Frankfort

            Summary:  Robert A. Ruiz, age 37, of 7600 W. Hickory Creek Drive in Frankfort was arrested for violation of bail bond.

 

9/1       Location:  18000 block of S. Haas Road                    Mokena

            Summary:  Two unknown men approached a residence and spoke to the elderly homeowner regarding cutting a tree that had fallen on the edge of the property.  One of the unknown subjects spoke to the homeowner and directed them to the back of the residence.  It was later discovered that jewelry was stolen from the home.

 

HOMER GLEN

 

8/27     Location:  12121 W. 159^th St.                         Ace Hardware

            Summary:  While landscaping was being conducted on the property an unknown male/black was observed stealing a backpack blower from the landscaping crew and jump into a blue older model GMC van.  The subject drove the vehicle off at a high rate of speed.  The van also had a female/black passenger.

 

8/27     Location:  12525 W. 159^th St.                         Consumer Benefit Resources

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke out the main entrance glass door.  Offender/s stole a Jugendstil sculpture table and a desktop girl with umbrella in wind, an Apple Macbook Pro, a wedding ring, and a folder with documents inside.

 

8/28     Location:  15707 W. 151^st St.                         Dog Park

            Summary:  An unknown male/black subject was observed smashing the driver’s side window on a vehicle.  The owner stated while she was at the dog park she observed the man smash the window out of her vehicle after he pulled up in a white Nissan Rogue and parked next to her vehicle.  She observed the man reach into her vehicle, feel under her front seat, and steal her Louis Vuitton purse.  As she ran towards the man, he got into his vehicle and sped off. 

 

            Location:  16427 W. 135^th St.            Montessori School

            Summary:  While walking her child to the door of the school, person/s unknown entered her vehicle and stole a tote bag containing a laptop, key fob, and other personal items.

 

8/29     Location:  143^rd St. and S. Will Cook Road

            Summary:  Marcos Estrada-Garcia, age 26, of 2222 S. Albany Avenue in Chicago was cited for speeding, driving without registration lights, transportation of open alcohol, defective windshield, no valid license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

 

8/30                Location:  12649 W. 159^th St.                         Dubois Landscaping

            Summary:  Person/s unknown drilled out the outside driver’s side door lock, entered the truck and then damaged the ignition switch.

 

8/31     Location:  14000 block of S. Hialeah Court

            Summary:  Richard M. Vody, age 35, of 7819 Garden Lane in Justice was arrested for DUI.

 

            Location:  12640 W. 143^rd St.                        White Castle

            Summary:  Matthew Cavanaugh, age 22, of 14329 S. Heatherwood Drive in Homer Glen was arrested for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and DUI.

 

9/1       Location:  14162 S. Bell Road                       Tobacco Express

            Summary:  Deputies observed two subjects standing in the front of the business after they had broken out the store front window.  The subjects were carrying a large black garbage bag, which was later identified as having 36 cartons of Newport cigarettes inside.  Deputies attempted to track the subjects as they ran toward Old Oak East subdivision.  The subjects dropped the garbage bag along the way but deputies were not able to find them.

 

            Location:  12000 block of W. Oak View Court

            Summary:  Person/s unknown stole numerous fur capes, shawls, and fur accessories, at least 100 pieces of jewelry, over 60 designer clothing items and 12 purses from a residence.

8/28     Location:  14000 block of S. Danbury Drive             Plainfield

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered an unlocked vehicle and stole about $35 in change.

8/20     Location:  29743 N. Readman Lane               Wilmington

            Summary:  Janelle S. Riegel, age 41, of this address, was arrested for domestic battery and criminal damage to government property.

 

8/22     Location:  22000 block of W. Rt. 113                        Custer Park

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a pickup truck and drove it to the end of the 200 yard-long driveway.  The keys were left inside.  Two credit cards were stolen. 

 

8/23     Location:  Delaney and S. Schoolhouse                     Manhattan

            Summary:  Alejandro Ramirez, age 26, of 10345 South Avenue H in Chicago was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving while license suspended and speeding.

 

8/25     Location:  34000 block of S. West River Road         Custer Park

            Summary:  An unknown male subject was observed getting into an unlocked vehicle.  The vehicle owner yelled at the subject to get out of his car and the subject took off running. 

 

            Location:  3100 block of E. Division St.                    Reed

            Summary:  Pete D. Castillo, age 25, of 2442 Lewis St. in Blue Island was arrested for DUI and failure to notify SOS of address change.

 

8/26     Location:  19000 block of W. Tanglewood Drive                  Jackson

            Summary:  Sheriff’s deputies were notified by Mokena Police that they had discovered a stolen 2013 Dodge Avenger at the LaGrange Road, Mobil gas station.  The vehicle was reported stolen out of Elwood. Deputies contacted the owner of the vehicle and she was able to recover it.

 

LOCKPORT

 

8/24     Location:  2100 block of Arthur Avenue

            Summary:  Deputies were called to the area in regards to shots fired.  Upon arrival, they met with several Joliet Police Officers who were also dispatched to the area.  A canvass of the area turned up two spent shell casings.  No injuries were reported.

 

8/26     Location:  3226 S. State St.                Conway’s Hi-Style Center

            Summary:  Person/s unknown busted open the front door to the barbershop.  Nothing was missing or damaged inside the shop.

            Summary:  Christopher Muren, age 36, of 2211 Greengold St. in Crest Hill was arrested for failure to signal, driving on wrong side of street, expired registration, possession of a controlled substance, and DUI.

 

8/21     Location:  E. Washington and Jessie

            Summary:  Araceli Ramirez-Hernandez, age 36, of 7 Jessie St. in Joliet was arrested for driving on wrong side of road, improper lane usage, disobeying a traffic control device, DUI, failure to signal and failure to yield to emergency vehicle.

 

            Location:  S. Larkin and McDonough

            Summary:  Wayman C. Taylor, age 64, of 711 Driftwood Court in University Park was cited for failure to signal, driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

            Summary:  Guy C. Massaro, age 54, of 136 Dahlia Drive in Romeoville was cited for driving while license suspended.

            Summary:  While on routine patrol Sheriff’s deputies were flagged down by a resident who stated that they heard 10 gunshots and found shell casing near their house, around 1:30am.  Several neighbors also stated that they heard the gunfire.  Nine shell casings were located on the 500 block of Fox St.  One house suffered damage with a bullet hole in the front siding.

            Summary:  Sheriff’s deputies were called to the area regarding shots fired.  Upon speaking to a homeowner, they were informed that person/s unknown fired a gun at their home.  A bullet went thru a bedroom window and struck a mirror that was hanging over a bed.  A teenager was in the bed at the time but was not injured.  A second bullet struck the outside frame of the same window.  Sheriff’s deputies also spoke to a second homeowner on the 1400 block of Sehring.  They stated that they heard 10 to 15 gunshots around 7pm.  That house sustained a bullet hole near a north side corner.  No one was injured.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a construction site and stole a load of white metal liner panels.  The panels were wrapped, sealed, and weighed about 2500 lbs.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke into a pole barn and stole a purple F-150 truck.  The truck was discovered on the owner’s property in a cornfield.  The vehicle was unoccupied with the door’s open and the keys in the ignition.  Inside the pole barn, a car-hauler trailer and sleeper camper had damage to their doors.  It was unclear at time of report if anything else was damaged.

8/11     Location:  15365 W. 163^rd St.                        Morris Park

            Summary:  A male subject reported to deputies that while he and a friend were walking through the park he observed an unknown vehicle parked next to his vehicle.  The vehicle then took off.  When he approached his vehicle, he observed the rear back window smashed out.  His friend’s purse had been stolen along with an IPhone.

 

            Location:  W. 143^rd St. and S. Greystone Drive

            Summary:  Arely Aguilar, age 34, of 15125 El Camino Real Drive in Orland Park was cited for failure to signal, no valid driver’s license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

 

8/12     Location:  14556 S. Coachman Lane

            Summary:  Christopher Mroz, age 34, of this address, was arrested for aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and resisting a peace officer.
