SOUTH TOWNSHIPS

 

3/1       Location:  Prairie Lane and Sunset Drive                   Wilmington

            Summary:  A 15-year-old male from Wilmington and a 16-year-old male resident of Streator were arrested for fleeing/eluding the police, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, resisting a police officer, theft and possession of a stolen vehicle after a deputy observed a suspicious vehicle in a neighborhood on his way to work.  The deputy observed the Chevy truck unoccupied and while pulling behind it he observed a male white wearing a black hooded face mask and a black male subject with an orange face mask returning to the truck and get inside. The deputy activated his lights and asked the subjects to exit the vehicle multiple times.  The truck then took off at a high rate of speed.  The deputy radioed for additional deputies and was informed that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of LaSalle County.

   The deputy then sent out a BOLO while Wilmington Police and Will County Police searched the area for the truck.  The truck was located with the two juveniles inside, at an apartment complex parking lot located on the 100 block of Elizabeth Street.  The juveniles were arrested and taken into custody.  A search of the vehicle revealed a sawed-off shotgun, bags of coins, a tablet, two purses stolen from Streator resident’s vehicles, and an empty AR-15 magazine.

 

3/6       Location:  23962 W. Stripmine Road            Wilmington                 Snookers Bar and Grill

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke into the business and stole $500 out of a cash drawer. 

 

EAST TOWNSHIPS

 

3/1       Location:  11000 block of W. Kennedy Road           Peotone

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke into two separate garages and stole a Matco Toolbox with multiple tools inside, organizer trays, a 12.5k winch, a stereo system, a Suzuki Jet Ski, a moped, and a log splitter.

 

3/2       Location:  S. Rt. 394 and W. Elms Court                   Crete

            Summary:  Jerrod Kulpa, age 37 of Momence was cited for aggravated speeding.

 

NEW LENOX AND FRANKFORT

 

2/28     Location:  19001 S. Wolf Road                                  Frankfort

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered the parking lot and stole a 2015 Freighliner semi.  $15,000 in various tools were inside the vehicle along with a portable air conditioner and a 15” TV.

 

3/2       Location:  S. Harlem and W. St. Francis                    Frankfort

            Summary:  Terry McCray, Jr., age 29, of Crete was cited for aggravated speeding.

 

JOLIET

 

3/1       Location:  21000 block of S. Rock Run

            Summary:  Homeowner stated while at his home he was approached by a male subject who stated that he was there to pick up the dog that he had put the deposit down on.  The homeowner advised that he must be at the wrong address as he does not have any dogs for sale.  The subject then showed the homeowner several Facebook messages between the two.  The homeowner then searched his phone and found a fake account with his name and Facebook profile picture.  The subject informed the homeowner that the fraudsters had also sent him a photo of the homeowner’s actual driver’s license.  The homeowner was in possession of his driver’s license, which had recently been renewed.    

   The subject advised deputies that he was on Facebook marketplace when he saw the sale for a dog.  He made a $250 down payment to the apparent scammers and was advised to pick up the dog at the S. Rock Run home with another $250. 

 

 

3/2       Location:  2400 block of Eastline Drive

            Summary:  Nancy Vander Woude, age 72, of 2419 Cosmic Drive in Joliet was arrested for DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and illegal possession of alcohol.

 

            Location:  W. Bluff Road and S. Valley Drive

            Summary:  Armando Diaz, age 42, of 971 N. Rohlwing Road in Addison was arrested for aggravated DUI, DUI/drugs, fleeing/eluding police, driving while license revoked, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage, driving on the wrong side of road and improper lighting.

 

            Location:  95 S. Chicago St.                           Adult Detention Facility

            Summary:  Cornell Cunningham, age 33, of 303 Richards St. in Joliet was charged with aggravated battery to a correctional officer after he refused multiple commands to comply with lockdown procedures and struck a correctional officer several times in the face and head.

 

3/3       Location:  500 block of S. Hebbard

            Summary:  Victim stated that she has been going through the immigration process to have a relative flown to her residence from Tampa, FL.  She received a phone call from a man who identified himself as a lawyer and needed $1430 cash deposited into a Chase Bank account.  She was told that after depositing the funds into the specified account the lawyer would purchase the airfare for the relative.  Victim did as directed and attempted to contact the lawyer several times with no response.  The victim then contacted immigration who confirmed the relative was fine but advised that they never request money through lawyers. The lawyers name did not match any employees at any of their office.   The victim was informed that she was scammed.

            Summary:  John Klawiter, age 24, of Forest Park was cited for driving with suspended registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

 

3/5       Location:  95 S. Chicago St.                           Adult Detention Facility

            Summary:  James Gardner, age 27, of 705 Bethel Drive in Joliet was charged with battery and assault of a correctional officer after he threw a piece of cardboard and spit on a correctional officer.

 

3/6       Location:  95 S. Chicago St.                           Adult Detention Facility

            Summary:  Charles McKnight, age 27, of 10012 S. Perry Avenue in Chicago was charged with aggravated battery to a correctional officer after he began physically pushing and shoving a correctional officer inside his cell.

 

            Location:  208 Louis Road

            Summary:  Eric Gholston, age 43, of this address, was arrested for domestic battery, unlawful use/possession of a weapon by a felon and reckless discharge of a firearm.

 

            Location:  95 S. Chicago Street                      Adult Detention Facility

            Summary:  Destiny Kalata, age 31, of 3620 Shannon Court in Joliet was charged with possession of a controlled substance and bringing/possessing contraband into a penal institution.

 

            Location:  114 Schorie Avenue

            Summary:  Joel Aguirre, Jr., age 33, of this address was charged with criminal damage to property.

 

            Location:  100 W. Jefferson St.                      Will County Courthouse

            Summary:  James McFall, age 33, of 1723 Hidden Oaks Court in Plainfield was arrested for defrauding a court ordered drug/alcohol screening test.

 

WEST TOWNSHIPS

 

3/4       Location:  14000 block of S. Hanford Court              Plainfield

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke into a 2015 Kia Forte and caused damage to the steering wheel column in an attempt to steal the vehicle.

 

            Location:  14000 block of S. Hanford Court              Plainfield

            Summary:  Deputies were called at 7:19am for a stolen motor vehicle that was left in a front yard.

Deputies spoke with the homeowner who stated that when he went to walk his dog, he noticed that his neighbors 2012 Hyundai Elantra was in his front yard and still running.  Deputies then spoke with the vehicle owner and upon entering the vehicle observed that the steering column had been torn apart.   Area video surveillance showed individuals in the area of the theft around 3am.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a vehicle and stole currency and a debit card.

 

HOMER GLEN

 

3/1       Location:  S. Pheasant and W. Martingale

            Summary:  Nicole Ananzeh, age 30, of Homer Glen was cited for driving with suspended registration, failure to stop at stop sign, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

 

3/3       Location:  W. 143^rd St. and S. Elm Street

            Summary:  Matthew Mariani, age 36, of 14538 S. Palomino Court in Homer Glen was arrested for DUI, endangering the life/health of a child, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage, driving in wrong lane.

 

3/4       Location:  12000 block of W. Waveland Court

            Summary:  Two unknown subjects were observed walking away from a BMW after it crashed into a tree at the intersection of Greystone Drive and Sheffield Drive.  Deputies checked for the owner and contacted him.  The owner had no idea his vehicle had been stolen out of his garage until advised by deputies.  He stated that he had left the vehicle running while he was inside his residence.

 

3/6       Location:  W. 143^rd St. and S. Chicory Trail

            Summary:  Donald Wennlund, age 56, of Mokena was arrested for DUI, improper lane usage, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and illegal transportation of alcohol.

2/25     Location:  S. Schoolhouse Road and W. Baker Road                        Manhattan

            Summary:  Mary Westergaard, age 46, of 732 Spruce Road in Frankfort was arrested for DUI, possession of cannabis outside approved container, failure to yield stop sign, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

 

            Location:  30000 block of S. Symerton Rd.                           Wilmington

            Summary:  Owner of a 2019 GMC Sierra received a call from Kankakee Police stating that they were in possession of his vehicle.  Owner stated that he was not aware that it had been stolen during the late evening hours.  Owner stated that he was in possession of both sets of keys inside his residence.  Upon retrieving the vehicle, the center console had been stripped out.

 

2/27     Location:  24700 Strip Mine Road                             Wilmington                 Triangle Mini Storage

            Summary:  Person/s unknown stole the catalytic converter from a Ford pickup truck.

 

EAST TOWNSHIPS

 

2/25     Location:  W. Crete-Monee Rd. and S. Highland Avenue     Monee

            Summary:  Brenna Sebek, age 29, of 25809 S. Sunrise Court in Monee was arrested for DUI, improper passing, too fast for conditions and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

 

2/27     Location:  24800 S. Governors Highway                               Monee             Skyline Memorial Park

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered the cemetery property and stole approximately 160 bronze headstone vases.  Each vase is valued at $279.  The grounds keeping staff did recover several vases that appeared to be dropped around the property during the theft.

 

            Location:  W. Indiana and S. Racine                                      Beecher

            Summary:  Sydney Trevino, age 27, of Beecher was cited for speeding and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

 

HOMER GLEN

 

2/25     Location:  14102 S. Bell Road                                   The Private Bank

            Summary:  Thomas J. Hoekstra, age 57, of 12142 68^th Court in Palos Heights was arrested for aggravated identity theft, continuing financial crime enterprise, theft over $500, burglary and forgery.  Deputies were called to the CIBC Bank for a fraud in progress.  Deputies located the subject as he was walking out of the bank and questioned him.  They located multiple items on Hoekstra’s person that identified him as another person including a driver’s license with Hoekstra’s photo on it, a check and the victims social security number.

            Summary:  Rongny Manuel, age 22, of Joliet was cited for failure to reduce speed, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and no valid driver’s license.

 

2/25     Location:  400 block of Nobes

            Summary:  Person/s unknown stole a 2009 Suzuki motorcycle that was parked outside next to a residence.

2/22     Location:  W. Lincoln Hwy and S. Harlem                Frankfort

            Summary:  Paula Montgomery, age 31, of Matteson was cited for suspended registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

 

2/26     Location:  191^st and S. Harlem                                   Frankfort

            Summary:  Ambreya Logan, age 32, of Chicago was cited for driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

 

JOLIET

 

2/22     Location:  95 S. Chicago St.                           Adult Detention Facility

            Summary:  Kenneth Harvey II, age 30, of Joliet was charged with battery after he resisted officers while being taken into booking and kicked an officer.

            Summary:  Terrence Williams, age 27, of 1107 Magnolia Avenue in Joliet was charged with criminal damage to government property after he used a mop bucket to forcibly disconnect a chuck hole from a cell door causing damage to the locking mechanism and the cell door window.

 

2/23     Location:  95 S. Chicago St.                           Adult Detention Facility

            Summary:  Terrence Williams, age 27, of 1107 Magnolia Avenue in Joliet was charged with criminal damage to government property after he dismantled the fire sprinkler from his cell which caused massive amounts of water to enter his cell. 

 

2/24     Location:  95 S. Chicago St.                           Adult Detention Facility

            Summary:  Terrence Williams, age 27, of 1107 Magnolia Avenue in Joliet was charged with aggravated battery after he threw a cup of urine at the cell door which spilled thru the frame and struck a correctional officer in the face and front of his uniform.

 

            Location:  95 S. Chicago St.                           Adult Detention Facility

            Summary:  Terrence Williams, age 27, of 1107 Magnolia Avenue in Joliet was charged with public indecency after he exposed himself to a correctional officer.

 

2/25     Location:  S. Weber and Ryan Drive

            Summary:  Thomas Wilson, age 45, of Chicago was cited for driving while license revoked, aggravated driving while license revoked, improper lane usage and driving in wrong lane.

 

            Location:  Mills Road and Kinmouth Drive

            Summary:  Jeffrey Rucker, age 29, of Joliet was cited for driving without valid driver’s license.

 

            Location:  95 W. Chicago St.                         Adult Detention Facility

            Summary:  Ramon Maldonado, age 27, of 3202 Florence Avenue in Steger was charged with aggravated battery after he threw a cup of urine at a fellow inmate.

 

2/26     Location:  E. Jackson and Parks Avenue

            Summary:  Gonzalo Santos, age 59, of 507 Henderson in Joliet was arrested for DUI, invalid temporary driver’s license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage, and stopping in roadway.

 

WEST TOWNSHIPS

 

2/22     Location:  21000 block of W. Buckeye Court                                   Plainfield

            Summary:  Victim stated that she received a call on her home phone and cell phone from a man who identified himself as Mark Nelson from Amazon Security.  Nelson stated that the victim’s identity had been compromised and a package was being delivered to her address.  Victim stated that she did not order anything but possibly her husband had.  Victim stated Nelson had all her personal information and her Discover credit card number.  Nelson stated that in order to see who purchased the items the victim would need to get a $500 Apple gift card and send him a picture of the receipt.  The victim followed the instructions.  Nelson then instructed the victim to purchase two more gift cards for $500 each.   The victim then became suspicious that she was possibly scammed.  Nelson attempted to call the victims house several additional times, but the victim did not answer.

 

2/25     Location:   W. Grinton Drive                                     Plainfield

            Summary:  Victim stated that while she was on her IPad she received a pop-up notification claiming her device was compromised and called the number that was associated with it.  She spoke with an individual identifying herself as Christina Benz.  Benz began requesting various information regarding bank accounts.  The victim was then transferred to another individual identifying herself as Charlotte Specter from the Department of Justice.  Specter stated that over $76,000 of pending transactions were withdrawn from the victim’s bank account and in order to cancel the transactions out the victim would need to make a transaction of the same amount.  Specter went on to say that there is a law that says if matching withdrawals are made within a certain time period, they would cancel each other out.

The victim was instructed to first withdraw $20,000.  She did so. Then the victim was instructed to go to a gas station with a Bit Coin Depot and make a purchase. Victim purchased $15,000 of bitcoin as that was the limit. 

The victim then sent a picture of the receipt to Specter. After sleeping on the series of events and speaking with a family member the victim realized she had been scammed.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a vehicle that was left unlocked and running in a driveway.  Offender/s stole a purse from inside the vehicle.

            Summary:  Derrell D. Draper, age 40, of Joliet was charged with aggravated battery after he inappropriately touched a medical staff member.

            Summary:  Donta Bailey, age 19, of 502 Pico Street in Joliet was arrested for aggravated battery, mob action, and disorderly conduct, after he began a verbal argument with an acquaintance outside the courtroom.  The argument turned physical when Bailey began beating the victim repeatedly.

            Summary:  Dalen Dent, age 23, of Joliet was cited for no seat belts and aggravated speeding.

            Summary:  Bennett Williams, age 28, of 604 Dilorenzo Drive in Naperville was arrested for DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage, texting while driving, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

            Summary:  Lance Phillips, age 25, of Bolingbrook was cited for driving with suspended registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke into a residence and stole fine jewelry.  A suspicious brown Chevy Traverse was seen in the area near the time of the burglary.

            Summary:  An unknown subject was observed on video surveillance stealing two catalytic converters from a Dodge Durango and a motor home.

            Summary:  Alex Mauritz, age 37, of Homer Glen was cited for disobeying a stopped school bus arm.

            Summary:  Jorge Leon Lopez, age 36, of Joliet was cited for driving while license revoked, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding.

 

2/1       Location:  Ridgewood Avenue and Walnut

            Summary:  Sanino Garduno, age 50, of Plainfield was cited for driving while license revoked and expired registration.

 

            Location:  316 N. Bluff Street

            Summary:  Cornell A. Cunningham, age 33, of this address, was taken into custody by Sheriff’s Fugitive Warrants Unit and members of the US Marshalls Task Force.  Cunningham had outstanding warrants for armed habitual criminal, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon x2 and armed violence.  The Sheriff’s Office Units made entry into the apartment and Cunningham surrendered without incident.  A handgun was observed on top of a dresser in plain view.  In addition to the charges on the warrant, Cunningham was charged with felony possession of a weapon and armed habitual criminal.

            Summary:  Denziel Banks, age 26, of Chicago was charged with two counts of aggravated battery after he threw urine on a doctor and a correctional officer.

            Summary:  Jose Gamino-Valdiva, age 46, of 815 Second Avenue in Joliet was arrested for DUI, improper lane usage and disobeying a traffic control device.

 

SOUTH TOWNSHIPS

 

1/31     Location:  23962 W. Stripmine Road            Snookers Bar and Grill                       Wilmington

            Summary:  Around 9pm, Sheriff’s deputies were called to the establishment regarding shots fired.  They were advised that the subject had left the area in a black Jeep heading into Wilmington.  Upon arrival deputies spoke with witnesses who stated that the offender was a man who was no longer allowed inside the establishment due to past incidents.  Upon seeing the man’s vehicle enter the parking lot and exit his vehicle. A patron went outside and yelled to the subject to leave.  The subject then reentered his vehicle and showed the patron that he had a gun.  While driving away the subject shot 3 to 6 times.  The patron believed the first shot may have been aimed at him.  No one was injured.   Under investigation.

            Summary:  Elijah Scroggins, age 34, of Kankakee was cited for aggravated speeding and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

            Summary:  Nicole Talley, age 28, of 507 Baltimore St. in Wilmington was arrested for DUI, no valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown shattered the front door glass of the business and threw various items throughout the store.  At time of report, it was unclear what was stolen.
