            Summary:  Person/s unknown stole a Glock 26 .9mm handgun with ammunition from an unlocked vehicle.

 

            Location:  100 block of Girard Blvd.

            Summary:  Tavares Walker, age 29, of 910 Pico in Joliet was arrested for criminal damage to property, criminal trespass to residence and three counts of battery.

            Summary:  Tyrone Van Osten Jr., age 24, of 12028 S. Wentworth Avenue in Chicago was cited for driving while license suspended.

            Summary:  Landon Robinson, age 60, of Joliet was cited for driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

            Summary:  James C. Simpson, age 20, of 909 S. 28^th in Springfield was cited for obstructing a peace officer.

            Summary:  Jaylan Banks, age 21, of 2317 Rickwell St. in Chicago was arrested for two counts aggravated battery to a correctional officer.

            Summary:  Vanessa Tillman-Johnson, age 45, of 1204 Justice Lake Drive in Joliet was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, speeding, driving while license suspended and was held on two active warrants.

 

9/5       Location:  3400 block of W. Jefferson

            Summary:  An unknown male black subject described as tall, thin, and riding a Trek Townie Electra bicycle entered a 2004 Honda Accord and stole it from a driveway.  A neighbor witnessed the incident.  The bicycle was left at the vehicle owner’s property.

 

            Location:  200 block of SW Circle Drive

            Summary:  Juan M. Leon, age 19, of 821 Benton in Joliet was cited for speeding, no valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to signal.

 

            Location:  W. Jefferson and N. Midland

            Summary:  Daniel Duarte, age 40, of 176 E. Quincy in Riverside was arrested for no registration lights, no bumper on vehicle, defective windshield, obstructed windshield, operating vehicle in unsafe conditions, failure to signal, improper lane usage, reckless driving, DUI, DUI/drugs.

            Summary:  Jason A. Bowen, age 28, of 1328 Ridgewood Avenue in Joliet was cited for speeding in construction zone, no front license plates, possession of suspended license, driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

            Summary:  Marcus A. Lopez, age 23, of 2226 Graystone Drive in Joliet was arrested for failure to signal, improper lane usage, reckless driving, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, unlawful possession of cannabis, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to carry driver’s license, improper display of registration, no valid license, aggravated fleeing/eluding police and possession of a controlled substance.

 

            Location:  16000 block of Spencer Road

            Summary:  Luis E. Garcia, age 31, of 416 Manhattan Road in Joliet and Heriberto Salgado, age 30, of 136 Fairmont Avenue in Joliet were both arrested for battery.

 

            Location:  500 block of Pico St.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun.

 

9/7       Location:  N. Briggs and E. Cass

            Summary:  David L. Howard, age 43, of 1801 S. 50^th Avenue in Cicero was cited for speeding in a construction zone and no valid driver’s license.

 

FRANKFORT AND NEW LENOX

 

9/1       Location:  W. 187^th St. and S. Hickory                                   Frankfort

            Summary:  Julian Collins, age 34, of 5319 W. Potomac in Chicago was cited for speeding, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving while license suspended.

 

9/7       Location:  W. North Avenue and S. Frankfort Square                       Frankfort

            Summary:  Mike A. Corsi, age 23, of 21202 S. 79^th Avenue in Frankfort was arrested for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, disobeying a stop sign, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, DUI, and driver’s license classification violation.

 

WEST TOWNSHIPS

 

9/3       Location:  S. Lincoln Highway and S. Lily Cache Road                   Plainfield

            Summary:  Lisa Ibarra, age 50, of 2316 Ashland Drive in Morris was cited for driving while license suspended.

 

            Location:  10037 S. Clow Creek Road                       Plainfield                     Bevan’s Auto Repair

            Summary:  Person/s unknown, driving a white box truck, illegally entered the property and stripped various parts off three vehicles that were at the business for repairs.  Four rims and tires were stolen off an Audi, four wheels with tires, two front side fenders, steering wheel, instrument panel, trunk door, four side doors, two taillights and two speakers from the trunk were stolen from a BMW and four doors, two continental tires, two spoked rims, a steering wheel, instrument panel, radio, dash touch screen, two taillights and two speakers were stolen from a BMW M3.

 

9/5       Location:  21000 block of w. Kettering Court                                   Plainfield

            Summary:  Deputies were called to the area regarding subjects going into unlocked vehicles.  Deputies observed three subjects roaming through driveways at the intersection of Kentwood and Knolwood and attempted to make contact with them.  The individuals began to flee but a deputy was able to catch one subject and spoke with him.  The subject was released at that time pending further investigation.

            Summary:  Elisha J. Armstrong, age 19, of 623 Cochise Circle in Bolingbrook was cited for aggravated speeding.

 

            Location:  W. Taylor and N. Paragon Drive                          DuPage

            Summary:  Bryan Perez, age 19, of 194 Half Moon Bay in Romeoville was cited for aggravated speeding and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

            Summary:  Mike Huyn, age 50, of 1392 Lily Cache in Bolingbrook was cited for resisting a peace officer.

            Summary:  Two residents reported to deputies that their vehicles had been struck by what appeared to be a BB gun.  The rear window of one vehicle was struck and the side window of another vehicle was struck.

            Summary:  Chynna Evans, age 28, of this address, was arrested for criminal trespass to property and resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

            Summary:  Morgan Carlisle, age 70, of 3450 147^th St. in Midlothian was cited for leaving the scene of property damage accident, failure to report accident to police, failure to reduce speed to avoid accident and improper lane usage.

            Summary:  Ozzie Robinson, age 57, of 4902 E. 13^th Avenue in Gary, IN was cited for improper passing, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving while license suspended.

            Summary:  Deputies were called to the scene of an abandoned vehicle.  It was discovered that the vehicle had been stolen from a resident of Glenwood.

            Summary:  Frank T. Burt, age 30, of 3755 Emerald Avenue in Steger was arrested for criminal trespass to property.

            Summary:  Deputies were dispatched regarding a burglar alarm activation.  Upon arrival, they observed the glass entry door to be broken.  Owner stated that approximately $1,000 worth of merchandise had been stolen by offender/s.

 

8/30     Location:  S. State and W. 7^th St.

            Summary:  Alejandro Guzman, age 24, of 5643 S. Kilmore Avenue in Chicago was cited for no valid driver’s license and speeding.

 

8/31     Location:  3535 S. State St.                            O’Hare Towing

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a pick-up truck that was parked inside the secured lot of the business.  Offender/s stole a laptop, a backpack, three portable power banks, jumper cables, and some ammunition.    The vehicle was unlocked at time of theft.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a pole barn and stole a power washer and two electric saws.

            Summary:  Arturo Ramirez-Romero, age 48, of 1420 Edgewood Avenue in Chicago Heights was arrested for DUI, driving too slow, and improper lane usage.

            Summary:  Owner of a storage unit that was burglarized on 8/24 stated that he was missing a guitar, silver chains, vintage toys, several factory sealed vinyl albums, a painting, seven vehicle headlights, two chrome vehicle parts, 100 sealed DVD’s, and two gas cans.

            Summary:  Justin T. Robison, age 39, of 517 S. Manor Drive in Peotone was cited for aggravated speeding, failure to signal and no driver’s license on person.

            Summary:  Franchot Russell, age 26, of 1723 Hosmer Lane in Crest Hill was cited for no registration lights, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving while license suspended.

            Summary:  Lilia Marquez, age 61, of 1415 Winifred in Joliet was cited for driving on wrong side of road, failure to report accident to police, improper lane usage, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

            Summary:  Martese Wiley, age 24, of 1890 Grassy Knoll Court in Romeoville was cited for no valid driver’s license.

 

            Location:  100 block of W. Laraway

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered an unlocked toolbox on the back of a truck.  Stolen was a sawzall, circular saw, an electric drill and an electric drill driver.  Offender/s also entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a purse containing credit cards, conceal carry license, an Apple watch and Apple airpods.

 

8/31     Location:  1100 block of Sterling

            Summary:  A 1993 GMC P3500 Taco truck was stolen sometime after January 30, 2020.  The owner called deputies for a report to be filed stating that she was unable to make a report earlier because she was waiting for the title to be sent from the Secretary of State.  The truck was described as being painted yellow and red with a Route 53 symbol and the words “Taco Truck” painted on the sides.

            Summary:  Aubrey Gray, age 45, of 413 Whiteside in Joliet was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving while license suspended.

            Summary:  Darnell E. Payne, age 54, of 12 Dan Ireland Drive in Plainfield was cited for driving while license suspended.

EAST TOWNSHIPS

 

8/18     Location:  23949 S. Western Avenue             Crete               Pack It In Storage

            Summary:  Business owner reported that unknown male subjects cut off the lock of the property gate and drove a dark colored truck onto the property around 3am.  Those subjects then cut the locks off 24 storage units and stole an unknown amount of property.  On 8/24, the business owner was able to report to deputies that they had spoken to three victims who owned three storage units that had been burglarized.  Stolen from these units was several construction tools, a ladder, several power tool sets and batteries, lawn maintenance equipment, and a 9.9hp outboard motor.   Other victims were still being contacted at time of report.

 

8/19     Location:  E. 34^th Place and Chicago Road                            Steger

            Summary:  James J. McCabe, age 25, of 307 Golfview in Schererville, IN was arrested for DUI, improper turn at intersection and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

 

8/20     Location:  30000 block of S. Yates Avenue                           Beecher

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke into two outbuildings and stole a 2004 U.S. Cargo brand flatbed trailer, a tool kit, a 440cc ATV, a 50cc Suzuki ATV, a lawnmower, and a snow blower.

 

            Location:  25608 S. Dixie Highway               Crete               Crete Self Storage

            Summary:  An employee reported that while arriving at work he observed the security gate to be open.  He observed the hydraulic chain to be broken.  Upon further investigation, it was discovered that 24 storage units had the locks cut off the doors and were entered.  Security footage revealed that three subjects drove a dark colored Chevy truck into the lot about 2:30am and proceeded to steal items from the units.

 

8/24     Location:  S. Dixie Highway and W. Kent Avenue                           Crete

            Summary:  Ashley Haynes, age 26, of 297 Pattie Lane in Lynwood was cited for aggravated speeding.

 

            Location:  25660 S. Rt. 45                  Storage Squares                      Monee

            Summary:  Manager stated that during the overnight hours person/s unknown cut the security chain to the electric gate in order to gain access to the property.  The offenders then cut the locks to 27 storage units and loaded up their black Chevy truck and drove off.  Surveillance video revealed this occurred at 2:35am.  It was unknown at time of report what was stolen from the units.

8/18     Location:  E. Cass and Criswell Drive

            Summary:  Steven Helms, age 28, of 130 Marley Road in New Lenox was cited for suspended registration.

 

8/19     Location:  Plainfield Road and Black Road

            Summary:  Anastasia Hegwood, age 26, of 8107 S. Damen in Chicago was cited for no registration lights, no valid registration and driving while license suspended.

 

            Location:  I80 and Richards St.

            Summary:  Michelle Garrett, age 39, of 1016 Thornton in Lockport was cited for driving while license suspended.

 

8/20     Location:  I80 and Houbolt Road

            Summary:  Lavon Vaughns, age 32, of 16230 Clifton Park Avenue in Markham was arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of stolen firearm, no FOID card, aggravated unlawful use/possession of a weapon by a felon.

 

            Location:  Von Esch Road and Caton Farm Road

            Summary:  Jordan Garcia, age 22, of 256 Stern Avenue in Crest Hill was cited for failure to signal and aggravated speeding.

 

            Location:  300 block of Schorie Avenue

            Summary:  Antonio Hannah, age 55, of 301 Schorie Avenue in Joliet was arrested for battery.

 

8/21     Location:  E. Cass and Maple

            Summary:  Robert L. Byrd, age 48, of 109 Hobbs Avenue in Joliet was arrested for no registration lights, no tail lights, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving while license suspended, DUI, and two counts of aggravated DUI.

 

            Location:  500 block of Sehring

            Summary:  Witness stated that he observed a dirt bike riding down Sehring Street when a Jeep Cherokee started following it.  The witness then hear six to eight sounds of gunfire and saw the dirt bike speed up as the Jeep followed.  Deputies located eight spent shell casings near Sehring and McKinley.

 

            Location:  22000 block of S. Bramble Hill Road

            Summary:  Victim stated that around 6:30am he was watching TV in his home when he heard his 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee start up.  He went outside and observed two male black subjects inside his vehicle, pull out of the driveway, and drive off.  He then observed a black Mitsubishi with a male black driver pull behind the Cherokee and drive off.  The victim believes the offenders entered the rear door of his attached garage, took the keys from his workbench and stole the vehicle. 

 

8/22                Location:  W. Jefferson and N. Midland

            Summary:  Craig D. Sneed, age 46, of 103 Grandview Place in Lockport was arrested for armed habitual criminal, armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, no FOID card, manufacture/possession of a controlled substance, resisting a police officer, possession of drug equipment and possession of cannabis over 10 grams. 

 

            Location:  S. Briggs and 5^th Avenue

            Summary:  Jeffrey Hernandez, age 18, of 629 E. Benton St. in Joliet was arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, no FOID card, possession of ammunition, no valid driver’s license and possession of a stolen firearm.  While checking on information regarding the weapon it was discovered that it had been reported stolen from Miami Dade County, Florida.

 

8/23     Location:  95 S. Chicago St.                           Adult Detention Facility

            Summary:  Alexis Cadenas, age 29, no address, was charged with criminal damage to government property.

            Summary:  Paul L. Emerick, age 66, of 714 Cayuga Street in Joliet was arrested for aggravated battery to a peace officer.

 

8/24     Location:  E. Washington St. and Independence Avenue

            Summary:  Arierous King, age 29, of 1701 Heiden St. in Crest Hill was cited for one headlight, driving while license suspended and speeding.

 

            Location:  S. Chicago and E. Laraway Road

            Summary:  Armon Jones, age 21, of 15644 Prince Drive in South Holland was cited for disobeying a traffic sign, driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

 

            Location:  N. Briggs and Sterling

            Summary:  Maritza Zavala-Diaz, age 31, of 507 Elwood Avenue in Joliet was cited for driving while license suspended and speeding in a construction zone.

            Summary:  Jalon Kinney, age 20, of 1501 Woodbridge Road in Joliet was cited for driving while license suspended.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown stole a 2019 Audi A5 from the parking lot of the gas station.  The owner stated that he left his vehicle running with the key fob inside to run into the gas station.  The owner’s cell phone and tablet were inside the vehicle at the time of theft.

            Summary:  Deputies received an alarm call at 3:38am.  Upon arrival they spoke with an employee who stated that she observed a Dodge Caravan pull up to the pump while she was cleaning up an area of the store.  An unknown male black subject exited the passenger side of the van and entered the store.  The subject had a soft cooler type bag with him and ran behind the counter where he began loading up Newport cigarette cartons into the bag.  The employee confronted the subject and grabbed his arm.  The subject then threatened the employee and pushed her.  The subject then fled the scene in the van with about 10 cartons of cigarettes.

 

8/23     Location:  7700 block of W. Frankfort Square Road                         Frankfort

            Summary:  Person/s unknown stole a 2018 Ford F250 from a residence.  The vehicle was unlocked and had the keys inside at time of theft.   It was later discovered that Illinois State Police District 5 had reported the vehicle abandoned on the interstate and had it towed.  The owner was able to recover the vehicle.

            Summary:  Catherine B. Eckert, age 19, of 7242 W. Hickory Creek Drive in Frankfort was arrested for harassment through electronic communications.

            Summary:  Owner of Ray’s Towing stated that he was commissioned to tow a Hyundai Sonata from Oswego to his tow yard.  While reporting the VIN number to Kendall County Police it was discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Hammond, IN in August.

            Summary:  Steven Guajardo, age 22, of 1500 S. State St. in Chicago was arrested for manufacture/delivery of cannabis under 500 grams, possession of cannabis over 100 grams and possession of drug equipment.

            Location:  14747 W. 159^th St.                                     BP Gas Station

            Summary:  Deputies responded to an activated alarm around 3:37am.  Upon arrival, they discovered an entry door to be shattered.  Upon review of video surveillance, it was learned that three male black subjects entered the store with white garbage bags and filled them up with cigarettes.  A sledgehammer was used to break out the glass entry door.  The subjects were driving a silver Infinity.

 

            Location:  15060 S. Bell Road                                   Speedway Gas

            Summary:  Deputies responded to an activated alarm around 3:42am.  Upon arrival, they discovered an entry door to be shattered.  A lower cabinet was opened where cigarettes had been stored.  Store manager arrived on scene and estimated that at least 70 cartons of Marlboro Lights were stolen.   Security footage is being reviewed.  This incident and the above incident at BP Gas Station are believed to be connected.  Both incidents are under investigation.

            Summary:  A 28-year-old female reported to deputies that around 2:42am, while in her bedroom sleeping, she was shot in the left thigh with a bullet.  East Joliet Fire transported the victim where she was treated for her injuries.  The victim stated that she heard approximately five gun shots fired outside her home and then felt pain in her leg where the bullet had entered and exited.

            Summary:  Two reports were taken by two separate victims who both stated that they store their motor homes in the parking lot of the business.  When they went to start them, they noticed a loud rumbling sound.  During an inspection, they found that person/s unknown had cut off the catalytic convertor on each motor home and caused damage to the undercarriage of the vehicles.

            Summary:  Mohammad Abuhalaweh, age 40, of 10430 S. Ridgeland Avenue in Chicago Ridge was cited for driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a vehicle that was unlocked in the driveway of a residence.  Offenders opened the garage door with the opener found inside that vehicle.  Offenders then stole a 2019 Mercedes and a 2019 Mercedes from the garage after locating both sets of keys nearby the vehicles hanging on the wall.

            Summary:  An elderly woman reported that around 2:15pm an unknown male/black, tall, wearing a caution vest and a facemask came to her front door and stated that her neighbor had a broken water pipe and he needed to enter the residence to test her water.  The woman shut and locked her front door and opened the garage door in order to allow the unknown man inside.  Once inside they went into the basement as the man made a lot of noise striking the water pipes and taking a ‘water sample’.  The woman later realized that she had been robbed of her and her husband’s class rings and other jewelry.

            Summary:  An elderly man stated to deputies that around 1:30pm, while outside mowing his lawn, he noticed a blue/gray Chevy Silverado truck pull into his driveway.  An unknown male subject with light brown complexion, a facemask, orange safety vest, with a two-way radio, approached him.  The man stated that he was with the power company and needed to run power lines to the utility box in the backyard.  The victim stated the man was fast-talking and aggressive in his attempts to get him into the backyard.  The subject and victim went to the back yard for approximately two minutes when the subject then left.   The victim then realized that his vehicle keys were now sitting outside on the front porch but his vehicle remained in the driveway.  The victim’s wife was inside the home at the time of the incident but did not see the second subject enter the house.  Nothing was stolen.
