Undersheriff Robert Contro

Undersheriff ControUndersheriff Robert Contro has been a member of the Will County Sheriff's Office since 1989. As a Deputy, he was assigned to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, Patrol Division, Court Security Division and Criminal Investigation Division. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2007 and to Lieutenant in 2012. As a Sergeant and Lieutenant, he was a supervisor in the Patrol Division and in the Records Section.

Undersheriff Contro graduated, with honors, from Benedictine University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business, and received his Masters Degree in Public Administration from Governors State University. He is also a graduate of the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety, School of Police Staff and Command. 

 

 


Chief Deputy (Warden) Brad Josephson - Adult Detention Facility


Chief Deputy Brad JosephsonChief Deputy (Warden) Brad Josephson graduated from Lewis University in Romeoville, IL with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1987. In July of 1988, he was hired as a Deputy, and attended the Illinois State Police Academy. Warden Josephson's first assignment was to the Will County Jail in the fall of 1988 where he worked until spring of 1989. His primary area of duty has been Enforcement/Patrol where he was actively involved in the Field Training Officer Program as a Supervisor overseeing the training of newly hired deputies. In 1999, Warden Josephson was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was assigned to the Will County Adult Detention Facility until returning to Enforcement/Patrol in 2003.

Chief Deputy Warden Josephson attended the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety, School of Police Staff and Command. He was among the departments first group of Patrol personnel to be trained in and receive rifles for enforcement application. Warden Josephson has called Will County home since 1983.

 


Deputy Chief Thomas Budde - Enforcement / Patrol

Deputy Chief Tom BuddeDeputy Chief Budde attended Illinois State University and was hired as a Deputy in 1989.  As a Deputy, he was assigned to the Adult Detention Facility, Patrol Division, and Gang Suppression Unit.  He was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2004.  In 2007, Deputy Chief Budde graduated from the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety, School of Police Staff and Command Class #240.  In 2010, Deputy Chief Budde was awarded the prestigious Medal of Honor through the State of Illinois for his involvement in an incident involving an armed intruder breaking into a residence.  

Deputy Chief Thomas Budde is also a sixteen (16) year veteran of the Special Operation Group (SWAT Team); a position he maintained until his appointment to Deputy Chief in 2014.  

 


Deputy Chief Richard Ackerson - Special Operations / Investigations

Deputy Chief Rick AckersonDeputy Chief Richard Ackerson joined the Will County Sheriff's Office in 1988 and attended the Illinois State Police Training Academy.  As a Deputy, Deputy Chief Ackerson was assigned to the Patrol Division, Investigation Division, and worked in the Training Division as a Master Firearms Instructor.  Additionally, he served as a member of the Special Operations Group (SWAT Team).  Deputy Chief Ackerson was promoted to Sergeant in January 2006 and to Lieutenant in April of 2014.  As a Sergeant, Deputy Chief Ackerson served in the Patrol Division and later ran the Internal Affairs Division.  As a Lieutenant he remained in charge of the Internal Affairs Division. 

Deputy Chief Ackerson received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Westwood College and is a graduate of Northwestern University Center for Public Safety, School of Police Staff and Command Class #273.

 

 


Deputy Chief Jerry Nudera - Support Services


Deputy Chief Jerry NuderaDeputy Chief Jerry Nudera began his Law Enforcement career in 1978. He has been a member of the Will County Sheriff’s Office since 1989. As a Deputy, he has been assigned to the Will County Adult Detention Facility and Evidence Unit. Deputy Chief Nudera was promoted to Sergeant in 1998 and to Lieutenant in 2004. He has been a supervisor in the Adult Detention Facility, Crime Scene Investigations Unit and Court Security.

Deputy Chief Nudera graduated, with honors, from Lewis University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal/Social Justice, and received his Masters Degree in Public Administration from Roosevelt University. He is also a graduate of the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety, School of Police Staff and Command Class #175.

 

 


Deputy Chief Stuart Taylor - Adult Detention Facility

Deputy Chief Stu TaylorDeputy Chief Stuart Taylor is a 19 year veteran of the Will County Sheriff’s Office. He began his Law Enforcement career in 1991 with the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office. He joined the Will County Sheriff’s Office in 1995 where he was assigned to the Adult Detention Facility. Deputy Chief Taylor was promoted to Correctional Sergeant in 2003 and became the Emergency Response Team Commander. In 2007, he was promoted to Correctional Lieutenant and in 2014 he was promoted to Deputy Chief of Operation at the Adult Detention Facility.

Deputy Chief Taylor received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Justice Profession from the University of Illinois. He most recently is a graduate of Northwestern Illinois University Supervision of Police Personnel.

 

 


Deputy Chief Dale Santerelli - Adult Detention Facility

Deputy Chief Dale SanterelliDeputy Chief Dale Santerelli began his career with the Will County Sheriff’s Office in 1995 as a Correctional Deputy. He has been a member of the Emergency Response Team since 1996. Working his way up through the ranks within the Adult Detention Facility, he was promoted to Correctional Sergeant in 2003 and to Correctional Lieutenant in 2008.

Deputy Chief Santerelli is a graduate of Northwestern University Center for Public Safety, Supervision of Police Personnel. He has completed several instructor level training classes and instructed staff on various subjects throughout his career.
