The Will County Sheriff’s Office is announcing the arrest of Nhat Van Hoang, male, DOB: 3/7/61 of 25212 Spring Street in Manhattan, IL.
On 2/16/14 at approximately 8:24pm the Will County Sheriff’s Gang Suppression Unit executed a search warrant at the residence where they located 639 cannabis sativa plants along with a digital weigh scale, heat sealer and numerous boxes of heat sealed bags. The entire basement of the residence was split up into growing rooms, each containing elaborate electrical, venting, and irrigation systems. Mr. Hoang was not home when the search warrant was executed however he was taken into custody and arrested when surveillance officers observed him arriving at the residence the following day (2/17/14).
The search warrant and ultimate arrest was the culmination of a six month long investigation. The Manhattan Police Department assisted the Sheriff’s Office with both the search warrant and the arrest. The seized cannabis plants have an approximate street value of $350,000. A 2005 Acura SUV was also seized.
Hoang was charged with production of cannabis sativa plants, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and possession of drug equipment. He is being held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility where bond has been set for $50,000 (10% to apply). ( Attachments see below : mugshot and two photos)
