Declaring Will County Sheriff's participation in the Illinois annual "Driver Sober or Get Pulled Over" drunk driving crackdown a major success, Will County Sheriff's Office reported 1 drunk driving arrest, 45 other significant arrests, 8 suspended/revoked or no driver's license arrest and 10 seat belt citations were made during the enforcement period that ran from August 16 to September 2nd.
"I am proud of our deputies for their hard work and dedication to making our community's roads safer," said Sgt. Steve Byland. "Drunk driving is more than a reckless choice by a few individuals. Each year drunk driving costs the lives of thousands on America's highways."
The Will County Sheriff's Office joined forces with hundreds of police agencies across Illinois and nearly 10,000 law enforcement agencies across the country in this year's "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign. The recent law enforcement crackdown was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the Driver Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
