            Summary:  Manager stated person/s unknown broke into five company vehicles and stole approximately $8,000 worth of various power tools.

 

6/14     Location:  25000 block of W. Rt. 30              Plainfield

            Summary:  Tracy L. Wargo, age 49, of 30w091 Arbury Court in Warrenville was arrested for battery, aggravated criminal damage to property and trespassing on private property, and driving while license suspended/revoked.

 

NEW LENOX AND FRANKFORT

 

6/14     Location:  Old Hickory Road and N. Vine St.           New Lenox

            Summary:  Meggan Melke, age 38, of Manhattan was cited for driving while license revoked, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding.

 

            Location:  W. Maple and I80                                     New Lenox

            Summary:  Joseph Smith, age 56, of Tinley Park was cited for driving with no valid driver’s license.

 

6/15     Location:  19900 S. Harlem                Frankfort                     Lincolnway North High School

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke out the back passenger window of a vehicle and stole a gym bag.  The vehicle owner had parked in the east-most parking lot and had been walking the track when the theft occurred.

 

JOLIET

 

6/13     Location:  Bradford Road

            Summary:  Two male/black subjects were observed by deputies breaking a window in order to gain entry into a vehicle.  The subjects then ran off into a nearby field.

 

6/14     Location:  95 S. Chicago St.               Adult Detention Facility

            Summary:  Marquis Johnson, age 18, of Joliet was charged with aggravated battery to a correctional officer after he punched the officer in the face.

 

6/17     Location:  W. Cass and N. Joliet

            Summary:  Rosembert Gomez-Hernandez, age 48, of 320 Pine St. in Joliet was arrested for DUI, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, illegal transportation of alcohol, and improper lane usage.

            Summary:  John A. Carter, age 33, no address, was arrested for battery.

 

6/18     Location:  Oakview Avenue and 5^th Avenue

            Summary:  Angel Mascote, age 19, of Joliet was arrested for aggravated fleeing/eluding police, reckless driving, failure to yield and improper lighting.

 

6/19     Location:  I80 and Richards St.

            Summary:  Deja Thurston, age 22, of Romeoville was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage.  She was also held on an FTA warrant out of Chicago.

            Summary:  David F. Grohne, age 86, of Wilmington was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm.

            Summary:  Kyle E. Asbrand, age 22, of 709 Barton Lane in Peotone was arrested for DUI, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and illegal transportation of alcohol.

            Summary:  Billy J. Dugard, age 46, of 208 N. Main St. in Wilmington was arrested for Theft over $10,000, aggravated fleeing/eluding causing property damage, aggravated DUI, domestic battery, DUI, driving while license revoked, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give aid/information upon accident, failure to report accident to police, improper backing of vehicle on roadway, disobeying stop signs, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown cut the catalytic converter off a Toyota Prius.

 

6/15     Location:  25000 block of S. Nacke Road                 Crete

            Summary:  While person/s unknown were attempting to steal a Ford Escape from the driveway of a residence, they crashed it into a tree on the property.  No offender/s were found.

            Summary:  Timothy Curry, age 57, of 1068 Ashley Court in Lockport was arrested for DUI and failure to signal.

            Summary:  Athan Tomopoulos, age 33, of Lockport was cited for aggravated speeding and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

            Summary:  Manuel Mendoza, age 64, of 1659 Elgin Avenue in Joliet was arrested for DUI, improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

6/7       Location:  14508 S. Archer Avenue               Falcon Food and Liquor

            Summary:  About 9pm, deputies were called to an armed robbery.  Upon arrival, they spoke with a 23-year-old employee who stated that he had been robbed at knife point by two unknown black male subjects.  Both with face masks on and hoodies.   One subject came around the counter and held the employee at knife point while taking cash out of the cash register.  The second subject took a bottle of vodka and they both fled the store on foot.   The employee was not injured.

            Summary:  Sharon Kuecher, age 75, of Frankfort was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and no valid driver’s license.

 

            Location:  W. Benton and S. Harlem                          Frankfort

            Summary:  Derrick Campbell, age 32, of Steger was cited for driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper display of registration and defective windshield.

 

            Location:  2600 block of E. Lincoln Highway           New Lenox

            Summary:  About 10am the homeowner’s security cameras were activated by a male subject wearing black walking up to his home and picking up four outdoor lawn chairs.  The subject then put the chairs in his lawn care service trailer and left the scene. 

 

6/2       Location:  191^st and S. Harlem                                   Frankfort

            Summary:  Jeremy Doss, age 26, of Chicago was cited for driving while registration suspended and no valid driver’s license.

 

6/5       Location:  S. Schoolhouse Road and Delaney Road              New Lenox

            Summary:  Richard V. Peck, age 39, of Sauk Village was cited for driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and no valid safety sticker.

 

WEST TOWNSHIPS

 

5/30     Location:  Halifax Drive                                             Plainfield

            Summary:  Victim stated that an unknown subject was sending harassing and threatening text messages in an attempt to coerce her to give him her banking information.  The subject was also providing details as to specific location, what she was making for dinner, and what she was doing, which was very disturbing to the victim.  Victim stated that she began getting information from family and friends that they were receiving multiple text messages stating the victim was in trouble and her bank account information was needed in order to help her.  Deputies looked through the victim,s cell phone and found nothing unusual but believed it had been hacked and taken over by the unknown subject.    The victim agreed to take the phone into her provider and have them research it.

 

6/1       Location:  12000 block of S. Rhea Drive                   Plainfield

            Summary:  The safety manager for Dovza Corporation stated that he received a phone call from an unknown subject who identified himself as a police officer from the State of Georgia.  The subject stated that they had arrested one of the company’s truck drivers and were going to tow the company truck.  The subject then advised that they could send an invoice for the tow company to be paid in full by the company.  The manager received an email with an invoice for $780 and the manager paid the invoice. 

   It was later discovered that the driver had not been stopped by Georgia police, nor been arrested and was still  in possession of the truck.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown stole a 2013 Yamaha SVS motorcycle, leather riding gloves, a phone holder, and a back support, from the owner’s driveway.

            Summary:  Omer Boscan Marquez, age 39, of Joliet was cited for no valid driver’s license.

            Summary:  Two unknown males were observed on Ring camera entering an unlocked BMW and stealing the garage door opener.

            Summary:  Patrick Adair, age 29, of Chicago was charged with aggravated battery to a correctional officer.

 

            Location:  Chicago and Cass Streets

            Summary:  Francisco Maradiago, age 30, no known address, was arrested for possession of a stolen firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, obstructing a peace officer and obstructing identification.

            Summary:  Joseph Pizzio, age 43, of 302 Bradford Court in Lockport was arrested for burglary to motor vehicle, criminal trespass to motor vehicle and two counts of obstruction.  He was held on an active Will County warrant.

            Summary:  Sequoia Cross, age 21, of Joliet was cited for aggravated speeding.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke into a storage garage and stole a push lawn mower and two weed wackers.

FRANKFORT AND NEW LENOX

 

5/28     Location:  7905 W. Lincoln Highway                        Frankfort         Fire House Pub

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke into the business and broke the ticket vending machine for the video gaming.  At time of report, it was unknown how much was stolen.

 

            Location:  7232 and 7228 W. Benton Drive                           Frankfort         Happy Daze & Rich’s Pizza

            Summary:  Upon arrival, deputies observed the glass entry door to be broken and the interior security gate to be damaged.  The main entry door into Rich’s Pizza was also broken.  Owner of Happy Daze reported several thousand dollars of merchandise was stolen.  Owner of Rich’s reported that nothing was stolen from his business. 

 

5/29     Location:  S. Harlem and Vollmer Road                    Frankfort

            Summary:  Angelina Lazar, age 28, of Matteson was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving with suspended registration.

 

LOCKPORT

 

5/26     Location:  200 Barrett St.

            Summary:  Victim stated, around 10pm he noticed an unknown Hispanic man outside his fence giving commands to his dog.  The dog was located inside the victim’s fenced yard.  Victim went into his backyard and told the unknown man he was not welcome to give the dog commands.  A verbal argument ensued and the man walked away to the front of the victims property on the street.  Victim stated that he was then able to see the man was walking with a pitbull and was openly carrying a handgun.  The dispute then continued and the Hispanic man pulled out a badge and said, “CPD” as he also fully extended his arm and pointed the firearm at the victim.  The victim retrieved to his house, was unharmed, and called 911. 

    Deputies canvassed the area looking for the armed suspect however they did not find him.  Video surveillance is being reviewed.

            Summary:  Amner Delgado, age 31, of this address, was arrested for DUI, driving while license suspended, failure to give information after striking property, failure to report accident to police, transportation of open alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and violation of window treatments on vehicle windows.

 

5/24     Location:  Henderson and Cleveland

            Summary:  Federico DeLaCerda, age 56, of 1300 Highland Avenue in Joliet was arrested for DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, improper lane usage and failure to stop at stop sign.

            Summary:  Markise Mckinnis, age 41, of Joliet was cited for driving while license revoked, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and disobeying a traffic control device.

            Summary:  Alexia Guzman, age 23, of Plainfield was cited for driving while license suspended and speeding.

            Summary:  Rasheed Muhammad, age 36, of 7933 S. Manistee Avenue in Chicago was arrested for DUI, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, stop/park on railroad tracks, and resisting a police officer.

            Summary:  Artemio Filomeno, age 36, of 613 N. Center St. in Joliet was arrested for aggravated DUI, improper lane usage, improper lighting, no valid driver’s license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

            Summary:  Kody Vlasak, age 29, of 15021 S. High Road in Lockport was arrested for DUI and improper lane usage.

            Summary:  Curtis Moffett, age 58, of 211 Reverand Walton Drive in Lockport was arrested for DUI, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage and expired registration.

 

5/29     Location:  630 Gardner St.                 Terrace Inn Lounge

            Summary:  John C. Foster, age 42, of 922 West Park Avenue in Joliet was arrested for aggravated battery with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, reckless discharge, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and was held on two outstanding traffic warrants.

 

HOMER GLEN

 

5/23     Location:  13000 block of Kickapoo Trail

            Summary:  Deputies were dispatched to a residence to assist Chicago Police in order to contact the owner of a Dodge Charger, and to inform the owner that they were in possession of multiple personal items that were inside the vehicle.  Upon speaking to the vehicle owner, he advised that he was unaware that his vehicle had been stolen during the evening hours.  The vehicle had been locked with no keys inside.  Broken glass was located where the vehicle had been parked.  CPD advised that they located golf clubs, a GPS and a radar detector on W. 125^th Place in Chicago.  The Charger had not been located.

   While deputies were at the residence, they observed a 2012 Chrysler 300, unoccupied, parked the wrong way in front of the residence.  The homeowner advised that the vehicle was not familiar to him, nor did any of his neighbors drive that type of vehicle.  Upon investigating, several items were recovered from the Chrysler that were proceeds from several burglaries to motor vehicles in Lemont and Cook County.  Deputies took possession of the vehicle.

5/26     Location:  Businesses throughout Homer Glen

            Summary:  Deputies conducted a random tobacco compliance operation to 19 businesses in the Village of Homer Glen.  The purpose is to hold businesses accountable to the law for the sale of tobacco and related products.  Fifteen of the businesses were in compliance with the sale of tobacco/products to legally aged individuals, and four businesses were not in compliance and received a citation.

 

5/27     Location:  14169 S. Bell Road                                   Meijer

            Summary:  Jason Simonelli, age 46, of 7218 Capitol Drive in Darien was arrested for retail theft.

 

5/28     Location:  12108 W. 159^th St.                        Mobile Gas

            Summary:  Deputies responded to an activated burglar alarm.  Upon arriving they observed the front glass door to be shattered.  Video surveillance revealed that around 12:25am, a silver midsize SUV entered the parking lot and parked in front of the business.  A large towel was covering the rear passenger window.  Video showed four unknown suspects exit, carrying a duffel bag and two large garbage bags.  Suspects were all wearing hoodies, gloves, and masks.  Three suspects entered the store and filled their bags with cigarettes and cigars from behind the counter.   The fourth suspect remained in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.  It was unknown at time of report how much was stolen.

            Summary:  Deputies responded to an activated burglar alarm.  Upon arrival they observed the front door partly open with pry marks.  Deputies entered and observed barstools and trashcans knocked over.  One slot machine was pried open.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke into the business and broke the ticket vending machine for the video gaming.  At time of report, it was unknown how much was stolen.

            Summary:  Upon arrival, deputies observed the glass entry door to be broken and the interior security gate to be damaged.  The main entry door into Rich’s Pizza was also broken.  Owner of Happy Daze reported several thousand dollars of merchandise was stolen.  Owner of Rich’s reported that nothing was stolen from his business.

            Summary:  Angelina Lazar, age 28, of Matteson was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving with suspended registration.

 

LOCKPORT

 

5/26     Location:  200 Barrett St.

            Summary:  Victim stated, around 10pm he noticed an unknown Hispanic man outside his fence giving commands to his dog.  The dog was located inside the victim’s fenced yard.  Victim went into his backyard and told the unknown man he was not welcome to give the dog commands.  A verbal argument ensued and the man walked away to the front of the victims property on the street.  Victim stated that he was then able to see the man was walking with a pitbull and was openly carrying a handgun.  The dispute then continued and the Hispanic man pulled out a badge and said, “CPD” as he also fully extended his arm and pointed the firearm at the victim.  The victim retrieved to his house, was unharmed, and called 911. 

    Deputies canvassed the area looking for the armed suspect however they did not find him.  Video surveillance is being reviewed.

            Summary:  John C. Foster, age 42, of 922 West Park Avenue in Joliet was arrested for aggravated battery with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, reckless discharge, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and was held on two outstanding traffic warrants.

 

HOMER GLEN

 

5/23     Location:  13000 block of Kickapoo Trail

            Summary:  Deputies were dispatched to a residence to assist Chicago Police in order to contact the owner of a Dodge Charger, and to inform the owner that they were in possession of multiple personal items that were inside the vehicle.  Upon speaking to the vehicle owner, he advised that he was unaware that his vehicle had been stolen during the evening hours.  The vehicle had been locked with no keys inside.  Broken glass was located where the vehicle had been parked.  CPD advised that they located golf clubs, a GPS and a radar detector on W. 125^th Place in Chicago.  The Charger had not been located.

   While deputies were at the residence, they observed a 2012 Chrysler 300, unoccupied, parked the wrong way in front of the residence.  The homeowner advised that the vehicle was not familiar to him, nor did any of his neighbors drive that type of vehicle.  Upon investigating, several items were recovered from the Chrysler that were proceeds from several burglaries to motor vehicles in Lemont and Cook County.  Deputies took possession of the vehicle.

Brown, age 31, of 524 Bellarmine Drive in Joliet was arrested for felon possession of a weapon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and resisting a peace officer after the Will County Sheriff’s Warrant Unit were apprehending Brown for an active felony warrant out of Sangamon County.  Upon taking him into custody a handgun was found on Brown’s person, and he attempted to flee the scene.

            Summary:  A 50-year-old female stated that while riding her bicycle, northbound on Rowell Avenue, she observed a dark colored vehicle pull behind her.  She observed a male black subject exit the passenger side, approach her, and demand her to give him her backpack.  The female then observed a handgun in the subject’s hand and pointed the firearm at her.  The female jumped off her bike and fled the area while screaming for help.  The subject entered the vehicle and fled the scene.  A man witnessed the incident, stopped to help the female, and stated to deputies that the vehicle was a Kia SUV with two male black subjects inside.

            Summary:  Ghaliya Grant-Berry, age 22, of Joliet was cited for driving while license suspended and expired registration.

            Summary:  Marquan Brown, age 19, of this address, was arrested for battery, domestic battery, assault, and criminal damage to property.

 

HOMER GLEN

 

5/16     Location:  14326 S. Golden Oak Drive                      Sky Smoke Shop

            Summary:  An unknown male white, wearing all black, with a face covering, was observed on video surveillance picking up a large rock, throwing it thru the front door window, entering the store, and taking a glass smoking device and other items from the store.

 

            Location:  15000 block of S. Nutmeg Avenue

            Summary:  A 38-year-old male subject stated to deputies that while he was driving northbound on Cedar Road toward 151^st Street, he observed a dark colored Chevy Silverado following him very closely at a high rate of speed.  The Chevy continued to tailgate the man and then passed him in a no passing zone.  The man flipped his bright lights at the Chevy.   The Chevy then stopped and blocked the roadway.  The Chevy driver, described as a male white, in his late 40’s or early 50’s, short in stature and balding, jumped out of his truck and displayed a handgun.  As the driver approached the man’s vehicle, he put his vehicle in reverse and retreated from the situation.  Shortly after the 38-year-old observed the Chevy following him again.  The victim pulled into a nearby driveway and ran to the backyard of an unknown residence.   The Chevy driver approached the victim’s vehicle, took out the keys and threw the keys into the homeowner’s yard.  He then left the area.    The victim was not injured.

            Summary:  Casey W. Green, age 29, of West Chicago was cited for driving while license suspended.

 

            Location:  Locust Lane                                               New Lenox

            Summary:  Victim stated that he was looking to obtain a financial loan and began speaking with a company called Advanced America.  The representative from the business advised the victim that he would be able to help the victim with a loan but would first need to build up his credit score.  The rep advised that the victim would need to send the company money and then the company would use the money to pay his bills.  The victim provided his identifying information and bank information.  A ‘supervisor’ then began communicating with the victim who advised him to send the company money in the form of Walmart gift cards.  The victim complied.  The supervisor then advised the victim to send money through a barcode system and bitcoin.  The victim began feeling like he might be getting scammed and did not continue to make payments and the supervisor quit responding to the victim.  The victim later discovered that he had been scammed out of about $30,000.

            Summary:  Danny R. Master, age 56, of 133 Nick Drive in Elwood was arrested for DUI, speeding, and improper lane usage.

 

5/21     Location:  3010 E. Division St.                      Reed                Gas N Wash

            Summary:  An unknown white male was observed on video surveillance walking up to the video ticket cash redemption terminal, breaking into it, and taking the cash box from it.  The offender had several tattoos on his face and neck area and was with two females in the gaming area.  The three left the store in a white Cadillac SUV.

            Summary:  Michael Burke, age 30, of Wilmington was arrested for DUI and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

            Summary:  Person/s unknown stole a 2011 EZ-GO golf cart that was parked next to a barn on private property.

 

5/19     Location:  1928 W. Exchange St.                               Crete

            Summary:  A technician from T-Mobile reported that while he was checking the antenna tower, he discovered that sixteen batteries had been stolen from a cabinet. 

 

            Location:  S. Stoney Island and E. County Line Rd.             Beecher

            Summary:  Larry E. Taylor, age 55, of 521 Weller Avenue in Laporte, IN was arrested for aggravated battery to a school employee, aggravated battery on a public way, aggravated battery to a person older than 60, aggravated vehicular hijacking, criminal trespassing, felony reckless conduct, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug equipment.

   Deputies were called at 8:17am to a disturbance of a man who had jumped onto the hood of a Beecher Community School district bus and made his way to the top emergency exit and entered the bus.  The 63-year-old female bus driver stated that while she was traveling south on Stoney Island, she observed a man (Larry Taylor) standing in the roadway.  When the driver attempted to go around Taylor, he jumped on the front of the bus saying he needed help.  Before the driver could react, Taylor had entered the bus and was physical with the driver, attempting to move her out of the way so he could drive the bus.  The driver was able to call for help and a school district mechanic was the first to arrive and got Taylor off the bus. 

   Deputies spoke with Taylor who stated that he had run out of gas ad needed help but couldn’t remember much of what happened because he was under the influence.  Taylor was transported to the hospital and was later released to the custody of deputies.  The driver sustained a cut to her right arm, was treated at the scene by Crete Township Fire personnel and was released.  No children were on the bus at the time of the incident.

            Summary:  Steven Mixon, age 57, of Peotone was cited for aggravated speeding, failure to notify SOS of address change, and driving while license suspended.
