HOMER GLEN
10/15 Location: W. Baywood Lane
Summary: Victim stated that on 10/12/21 she received a text message that stated, “BMO Harris: Did you attempt a $99 Zelle payment? Reply YES or NO.” The victim text back, NO. The victim received a response stating that her accounts had been restricted and a phone call would be forthcoming. The victim received a call from a male subject advising he was from BMO bank and that he would help her cancel the fraudulent activity but the victim needed to change her password. The victim provided the (fraudulent) bank employee with banking information and a password. She then received several texts from, who she believed to be, BMO bank stating that her accounts were all taken care of. Soon after the victim received an email from BMO confirming a Zelle transfer from her account to an unknown email address for $2,000 and then a second text message with another $2,000 transfer to the same unknown email address.
The victim then called BMO Harris who froze her accounts. The bank is investigating the scam.
Location: 17000 block of S. McCarron Road
Summary: Victim stated that she received a call from a male subject who identified himself as a Detective from the Will County Sheriff’s Office who requested to speak to her regarding a failure to appear summons. The (fraudulent) detective was able to provide personal information and her place of employment making the victim believe that the detective was real. Victim stated that the detective requested that she buy $690 worth of pre-paid credit cards to pay the fake fines owed “so her professional license would not be suspended”. The victim did as the detective instructed. The detective then instructed the victim to drive to the Sheriff’s Office in order to obtain another $1,000 for a different pending citation. The victim became suspicious and called 911. Note: The fraudulent call showed up as “Will County Sheriff’s Office” with the correct phone number of the Sheriff’s Office. In addition, the fraudulent detective did use a current detectives name from the Sheriff’s Office.
10/17 Location: 14000 block of W. 143rd St.
Summary: Steven Kent, age 34, of 750 Prairie Court in Marseilles was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
10/18 Location: 14169 S. Bell Road Meijer
Summary: Omar S. Hasan, age 49, of 10550 Ridgewood Drive in Palos Park was arrested for retail theft.
JOLIET
10/12 Location: Collins and E. Clay St.
Summary: Penelope McSherry, age 49, of 811 Gage in Joliet was cited for driving while license suspended, one headlight, and no front license plate.
Location: E. Cass and Scribner St.
Summary: Daniel O. Perez, Jr., age 22, of 211 Ross St. in Joliet was cited for aggravated speeding.
Location: W. Jefferson and Essington
Summary: Anthony Jarzembowski, age 19, of 1419 Lakewood Drive in Joliet was cited for driving while license suspended.
Location: 1600 block of New Lenox Road
Summary: Joshua Gemmell, age 33, of 1311 E. Cass in Joliet was cited for resisting a peace officer.
Location: S. Chicago and E. Laraway Road
Summary: Everardo Coss, age 39, of 4614 S. Sacramento Avenue in Chicago was cited for expired registration, no valid safety sticker, driving outside driver’s license classification, no valid CDL, and driving while license revoked.
Location: 1400 block of Dickens St.
Summary: Ramon Zamudio, age 34, of 1724 Rosalind in Joliet was arrested for theft of labor/services after he refused to pay O’Hare Airport Services a $361 fare.
Location: Notre Dame and McDonough
Summary: Heather Chanley, age 40, of 512 Douglas St. in Joliet was cited for improper display of registration and suspended registration.
10/14 Location: 700 block of Sugar Creek Drive
Summary: Person/s unknown drove passed a residence and shot several bullets towards the exterior of the home. Bullets also struck a vehicle parked in the driveway.
10/15 Location: 16911 W. Laraway Road WC Sheriff’s Office
Summary: A deputy who is currently employed at the Sheriff’s Office reported that he received a call from a Palos Park police officer who informed him that a resident reported that she received a call from a male subject who identified himself as this deputy’s name from the Will County Sheriff’s Office. The resident believed the call to be fraudulent and reported it to Palos Park police.
Location: 2427 Plainfield Road J and M Truck Rental
Summary: Person/s unknown stole a Hurst Trailer that was hauling a John Deere skid-steer from the parking lot of the business.
10/16 Location: S. Eastern and 4th Avenue
Summary: Johnnie Green, age 41, of 117 Third Avenue in Joliet was cited for expired registration and driving while license revoked.
Location: Burl Court
Summary: Person/s unknown stole a catalytic converter off a recreational vehicle.
Location: Black Road and Addleman
Summary: Davor Johnson, age 41, of 818 Cardinal Lane in Joliet was cited for driving while license suspended and improper lane usage.
10/17 Location: Sugar Creek Drive and Rowell Avenue
Summary: Brennon Ellis, age 33, of 106 Bush Drive in Elwood was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper motorcycle operation.
Location: 4000 block of Hennepin
Summary: Shakir Hart, age 39, of 5026 Jefferson St. in Gary, IN was arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, driving while license suspended, improper lighting, and disobeying a stop sign. Hart was held on an active Indiana warrant.
10/18 Location: 500 block of Oakview
Summary: Person/s unknown broke into a residence and stole watches, a laptop, jewelry, gym shoes, Gucci shoes, and USC.
Location: 100 block of Bradford
Summary: Person/s unknown stole a 2003 Mitsubishi Moreno from the driveway of a residence. The owner had left the vehicle running while she ran into the house and when she came outside the vehicle was gone.
SOUTH TOWNSHIPS
10/12 Location: S. Rt. 53 and W. South Arsenal Road
Summary: Richard Goudie, age 50, of 343 Oak St. in Braidwood was cited for aggravated speeding.
Location: S. Essex Road and W. McGuire Road Wilmington
Summary: Aaron Przybylski, age 20, of 424 Berkshire Avenue in Romeoville was cited for aggravated speeding.
10/15 Location: E. Mallard and S. Will Road Wilmington
Summary: Brandon Ford, age 29, of 16244 E. Kingstree Blvd. in Fountain Hills, AZ was arrested for DUI, improper lane usage, and illegal transportation of alcohol.
10/17 Location: E. Main and N. Center Braidwood
Summary: Heather Pickard, age 50, of 873 W. Main St. in Braidwood was arrested for DUI, illegal stopping/standing, and failure to yield to emergency vehicles.
EAST TOWNSHIPS
10/18 Location: S. White Oak Lane Crete
Summary: Three unknown male/black subjects were observed exiting a residence through the front door as the homeowners pulled into their driveway. All subjects entered a black mid-size SUV and attempted to back out of the driveway. The homeowners were blocking the vehicle so the subjects drove through the front lawn in order to leave the neighborhood. Homeowners called 911 and deputies arrived on the scene. Stolen was USC, two rookie baseball cards, and coin collections. Under investigation.
WEST TOWNSHIPS
10/12 Location: W. Lakewood Falls and S. Kendall Drive Plainfield
Summary: Charles Smothers Nicholson, age 33, of 484 Foxborough Trail in Bolingbrook was cited for disobeying a stop sign and driving while license suspended.
Location: 24137 W. 111th St. Wheatland
Summary: Victim stated while at the gym person/s unknown shattered her driver’s side window in order to gain entry into her vehicle. Offender/s stole a purse that was located under the seat of the vehicle.
10/18 Location: 23763 W. Rolf Road Plainfield
Summary: Person/s unknown broke into a T-Mobile cell tower property and stole 60 feet of copper wire.
