JOLIET
7/20 Location: Fairview and Rosalind
Summary: A 34 year old, male, resident of Joliet was interviewed at Silver Cross Hospital after Sheriff’s deputies were advised that there had been a shooting in the Fairview and Rosalind area. The victim was in stable condition and reported that he had been riding his bicycle when a Chevy Impala drove past him and began shooting. He observed four male/black subjects inside the vehicle. The victim stated that he jumped off his bicycle and began running. The victim entered a friend’s vehicle a block away and was driven to the hospital. Hospital staff advised deputies the victim was shot once in the right upper back just below his shoulder and would be receiving further treatment.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of the shooting and located fourteen shell casings. Under investigation.

Summary: Arcelia Guzman, age 61, of 806 N. 14th Avenue in Melrose Park was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and no driver’s license.
7/21 Location: W. Jefferson and S. Larkin
Summary: Jason McDermott, age 43, of 201 Morris St. in Joliet was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and driving while license revoked. Michael Corbett, age 38, of 425 Division St. in Joliet was taken into custody on an active Will County FTA warrant.
7/22 Location: Rowell and Eunice
Summary: Laura Vanweelden, age 48, of 2031 Fairfield Drive in Plainfield was cited for driving while license suspended.
Location: 24000 block of W. Zauratsky Road
Summary: Person/s unknown broke a window of a vehicle in order to gain entry. A backpack with low valued items was inside the bag.
7/24 Location: 5th Avenue and Siegmund
Summary: Reginald Morrow, Jr., age 30, of 1843 Maude Avenue in Joliet was charged with failure to yield at intersection, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident ad leaving the scene of a property damage accident, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, reckless driving, failure to give information, failure to report accident and failure to carry driver’s license.
7/26 Location: Maple Road and N. Briggs
Summary: Juan Diaz, age 60, of 815 Holm Drive in Joliet was cited for driving while license revoked, speeding, and driving with unsafe equipment.
NEW LENOX AND FRANKFORT
7/20 Location: 18000 block of S. Spring Meadows Drive Frankfort
Summary: A female victim reported to deputies that she began a dating relationship in May 2021 with a male subject she met on a dating app. The victim communicated with the man using various apps as well as on the phone. The man advised that he was in the military and that due to regulations he was not allowed to have access to his bank accounts and was broke. The victim stated that over the course of the relationship she made multiple cash advances through online apps to the man as well as sending numbers of purchased prepaid gift cards. The man then asked the victim to set up a bank account to have his military checks deposited. The victim provided the man with all her personal information. She later found out the man had attempted to open a credit card in her name. Victim then became suspicious and contacted the Sheriff’s Office.
SOUTH TOWNSHIPS
7/20 Location: 2000 block of Roberts St. Wilmington
Summary: Dana M. Shelly, age 41, of 517 Kenview Drive in Wilmington was cited for resisting a police officer. She was also held on an active Will County warrant.
7/22 Location: 23000 block of S. Rt. 53 Jackson
Summary: Person/s unknown entered two unlocked vehicles and stole a small knife, a purse and an IPhone.
7/23 Location: S. Rt. 53 and W. Hoff Road Jackson
Summary: Hunter Doherty, age 19, of 406 W. Cermak Road ad Braidwood was cited for driving while license suspended and speeding.
7/24 Location: S. Rt. 53 and W. South Arsenal Road Wilmington
Summary: Nicholas Sauseda, age 30, of 4603 Twain Court in Plainfield was cited for driving while license is suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding.
EAST TOWNSHIPS
7/20 Location: S. Stoney Island and E. Indiana Washington
Summary: Brett Wolff, age 52, of 30537 S. Cottage Grove in Beecher was cited for aggravated speeding.
7/21 Location: 1000 block of E. Church Road Washington
Summary: Homeowner stated that around 7am he observed a 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer that had crashed through his fence and was left abandoned. Heavy damage was observed to the vehicle and the front airbag had been deployed. Deputies ran the license plates on the vehicle and relocated to a residence on Ashland Avenue where they spoke to the homeowner. The homeowner stated that her Mitsubishi had been stolen during the overnight hours.
7/23 Location: 20000 block of S. Oak Lane Crete
Summary: Deputies were called around 6pm regarding a possible home invasion in progress. While en route deputies were advised, by a neighbor, that two unknown males were inside the home and he asked for a check of the residence and homeowner. When deputies arrived, they did not locate the subjects but interviewed the homeowner and the neighbor. The homeowner stated that a man had approached her and said he worked for the Village of Crete. He stated that he had to check her water quality and the homeowner allowed him into the house and basement. After ten minutes, the subjects left the residence. The homeowner then realized that a gold pendant, gold ring, a cell phone and $100 had been stolen.
LOCKPORT
7/20 Location: S. State and Nobes
Summary: Joshua Jones, age 29, of 1226 Arthur Avenue in Joliet was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving while license suspended and aggravated speeding.
7/24 Location: 2000 block of Arthur Avenue
Summary: Deputies were dispatched for a drive-by shooting with two victims. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a 26-year-old female who had been shot in the head and neck. A 41 year-old man had also been shot in his lower back area. Lockport Township Fire were called to the scene and both were transported to Silver Cross Hospital. Multiple shell casings were location near the intersection of Rosalind and Arthur. Three vehicles were also struck by gunfire. Deputies located a single round in two of the vehicles and seven rounds in the vehicle that the female victim was sitting in when the gunshots began. The female victim was attempting to crawl into the residence (she was visiting) when she was struck. The male victim stated that he was outside the home painting when the shots began. No one was able to give any descriptions of the shooters or the suspect vehicle. This case remains an open investigation.
7/25 Location: Dellwood and Barrett
Summary: Natavee Edwards, age 19, of 214 Fairmont Avenue in Lockport was arrested for aggravated fleeing/eluding the police, possession of a controlled substance and driving while license suspended. A 15 year-old male was arrested for three counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, and one count of the following: aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon under 21 years of age and reckless discharge of a firearm.
HOMER GLEN
7/20 Location: S. Lemont Road and W. Janas Drive
Summary: Espinoza D. Quito, age 22, of 5412 N. Long Avenue in Chicago was cited for aggravated speeding.
WEST TOWNSHIPS
7/23 Location: 21000 block of W. Knollwood Drive Plainfield
Summary: Person/s unknown broke into a residence and stole a .45 caliber pistol, a gold necklace, and two passports.
7/24 Location: 23000 block of W. Andrew Road Plainfield
Summary: Person/s unknown stole a 2015 Dodge Durango RT that was parked in the driveway of a residence. Owner stated that he was in possession of both sets of keys.
7/26 Location: 13000 block of S. Magnolia Drive Plainfield
Summary: Person/s unknown entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a wallet.
