Summary: An 89-year-old female stated that on 8/1/19, around 2pm, a stocky male Hispanic, approximately 5’6”, in his 20’s, clean-shaven, with black hair, knocked on her door. The man had a badge around his neck that stated, “City inspector”. The woman allowed the man to enter her home, as he stated that he needed to check her electricity. He led her to the back porch where an electrical outlet was located, then led her to the back garage area, and discussed where her property line was. The woman became suspicious and upon walking around to the driveway, she observed a second male in the driver’s seat of a Nissan SUV with the front license plates covered up. The fraudulent “inspector” got into the vehicle and left the area heading northbound on Gougar Road. The woman realized a short time later that a gold watch and a roll of half dollars were missing from a bedroom.
Deputies spoke with construction workers in the area and were told by one worker that he observed a white SUV in the victims’ driveway. He observed an unknown male go into the trunk of the SUV, put on a safety vest, and place magnetic company signs on the side of the vehicle. The worker did not know the company name but remembered it was an electric company.
