The Will County Sheriff's Office is advising the public and trucking industry that Sheriff's deputies will be strictly enforcing the newly posted 5 ton weight limit on Manhattan-Arsenal Road between Rt. 53 and Brandon Road near Elwood in Jackson Township.  Due to the concern of residents who live on this roadway, the Will County Board endorsed and passed a resolution stating that the 15 ton weight limit would be reduced to 5 tons.  The resolution was approved on October 22, 2015.

New signage is in place on both north and southbound Rt. 53 and on Manhattan-Arsenal Road.  This enforcement is in accordance with 625 ILCS 5/11-305 and 625 ILCS 5/15-107.
