Effective April 21, 2014 the Will County Sheriff's Office has implemented a new card system in which the Attorney will have to swipe their issued Attorney Card to be admitted to the court house with out having to go through security. The application can no longer be submitted on-line. Cards issued between January 1, 2014 and April 17, 2014 are in the process of being entered into the new system. Anyone with a card issued prior to January 1, 2014 will have to get a new card free of charge; however, the expiration date will remain the same.

In accordance with PUBLIC SAFETY (430 ILCS 66/) Firearm Concealed Carry Act, concealed weapons are not allowed in the Will County Court House.

The Will County Sheriff's Office Attorney Card does not permit the bearer to possess a concealed firearm in the court house regardless of whether or not the Attorney has a valid Concealed Carry Permit.

Effective August 1, 2012 all Attorney's will be required to present a Will County Sheriff's Office Attorney Security Pass in order to access the Will County Court House via a separate entrance.

In order for an Attorney to obtain a Will County Sheriff's Office Attorney Security Pass, an Attorney must do the following:

Attorneys may pick up applications at the Will County Sheriff's Office, Internal Affairs/Merit Commission Office, 57 N. Ottawa St. Suite 502, Joliet, Illinois 60432 or at each court house security desk.

Once an application is completed the Attorney must go to the Will County Sheriff's Office, Internal Affairs/Merit Commission Office to have their picture taken and the card issued.

When coming to pick up the card the Attorney must bring their Drivers License or State issued ID, as well as their current and valid ARDC card. The Attorney must agree to the rules and regulations governing the issuance and use of the Attorney Security Pass. By submitting the application on-line you are agreeing to the terms via an electronic signature.

Issued Attorney Security Passes must be obtained in-person by the Attorney between the hours of 8:30am and 2:00pm, on the first Tuesday of each month, or by appointment by calling the Will County Sheriff's Office Internal Affairs/Merit Commission Office at 815-723-1648.

The cost of the Attorney Security Pass is $35.00 (cash or check only, payable to the Will County Sheriff's Office, if paying by cash, no bills larger than $20 will be accepted - exact change is appreciated). The passes will valid for one year from the month of issue.

The cost to replace a lost, stolen, or damaged card is $5.00

Effective August 1, 2012 the Will County Sheriff's Office will no longer accept Will County Bar Association Cards as Security Passes.
