Helpful Keyboard Commands

The following chart lists some common keyboard commands to help navigate through a web page.

To move backward through the items that you can interact with, like moving from link to link or to the address bar, in a sequential order. Shift + Tab

Arrow Keys

Select or deselect checkboxes Space Bar
Move from box to box in a form Tab Key
Open a list or drop down box ALT + Down Arrow
Read the prior screen CTRL + Page Down
Read the next screen CTRL + Page Up
Return to the top of the page CTRL + Home
Jump to the bottom of the page CTRL + End
Close the current window or tab CTRL + W
Refresh the screen F5
Go back a page ALT + Left Arrow
Go forward a page ALT + Right Arrow
Activate and select the text in the address combo box ALT + D
   

Changing Text Size

With most of the modern browsers you can use CTRL + + ( For Windows: Hold down the Control Key and press the plus sign to increase the font size one level ) or Command + + ( For Mac: Hold down the Command Key and press the plus sign to increase the font size one level ) and CTRL + - ( For Windows: Hold down the Control Key and press the minus sign to decrease the font size one level ) or Command + - ( For Mac: Hold down the Command Key and press the minus sign to decrease the font size one level ).

Searching a Web Page

Most modern browsers allow you to search through the text of a web page. Below you will find the key commands to open the search box to search within a web page.
