WILL COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

INSTRUCTIONAL GUIDELINES FOR TAX NOTICES

Prior to delivering the Tax Notices to our office, you must provide us with the breakdown of the parties that you will need served. Indicate on each service whether it is personal service or certified mail. You may fax the list to our office (815) 727-8565 in advance. Pease allow approximately 1 to 2 business days for us to total the dollar ($) amount needed for service.

Tax Notices must be received 30 days prior to the expiration date.

Individual checks are required for each case number.

Upon receipt of payment, the following documents and materials must be provided:

DIRECTIONS FOR PREPARATION OF CERTIFIED MAILINGS

For each certified mailing, you will need 3 mailing labels made out with the recipients address, and 2 mailing labels made out with the Will County Sheriff’s Office address.

  1. Place one Tax Notice in each envelope & seal for each certified mail recipient.

           label in the left return address corner of a sealed envelope containing a Tax Notice.

    label on the back of the green Domestic Return Receipt card in the box marked
    Sender:Please print your name, address & zip
    .
    Remove the tape strips on the card & center on the sealed side of the envelope containing a Tax Notice.
  2. Place one recipient mailing label on an envelope

  1. Place one recipient mailing label in the USPS green Domestic Return Receipt card
    1. Article Addressed to: box. Write the tax number below the address label (still in box #1, above the bottom line).
  2. Remove the white article number sticker from the left side of the USPD Certified Mail Receipt and place in 2. Article Number (Transfer from service label) box of the green Domestic Return Receipt.
  3. For box #3. Service Type, check the [ ]Certified Mail box.
  4. Remove the Certified Mail sticker with UPC code from the USPD Certified Mail Receipt & place at the top of the envelope to the right of the return address, folded at the dotted line.
  5. Place one recipient mailing label on the USPS Certified Mail Receipt slip Sent to.
    Paper clip this remaining piece of the USPS Certified Mail Receipt slip to the envelope with the matching article number.

Due to high volume of workload, please allow 24 to 48 hours once we receive the payment in our office for receipts.
