Child Safety Experts Advise Against Utilizing Used Child Safety Seats Many people purchase used child safety seats at garage sales, flea markets, second-hand or resale shops. Unknowingly, you may be putting your child at risk. Will County Sheriff’s Office cautions against buying a used seat for many reasons. Among them are:
If you are having difficulty installing your seat, or would like us to check you seat for correct installation or recalls, please call us at (815) 727-3263. Child Passenger SafetyThe Traffic Section also has a Child Saftey Seat Program. Personnel also assist the Crime Prevention Bureau in presenting child safety seat check points which are conducted to assist parents in proper installation of their child safety seats. In addition, the four (4) Traffic Section personnel certified in child passenger safety instructed over 50 parents in the correct installation of child seats and answered over 250 phone calls regarding child seats, seat belts and the laws pertaining to these. They also assisted in child safety seat check points and information booths. Two (2) of these technicians were newly certified in 2005, as were two (2) other individuals for other divisions.
